Snaggleskull Posted February 2, 2025 Report Posted February 2, 2025 Hey everyone! I think it would be really cool if Vintage Story had glassblowing or more advanced glass crafting. Right now, glass is mostly just for windows, but imagine being able to make bottles, vases, jars, and other glass objects! Why This Would Be Awesome Better storage & immersion – Glass bottles could hold wine, juice, honey, etc or even something like potions when alchemy is added. More decorative options – Vases, candle holders, fancy glassware—stuff to really make builds feel more lived-in. A unique crafting process – Maybe a glassblowing furnace where you shape molten glass? Could be done with molds or freehand shaping. Fits the historical feel – Glassblowing has been around for centuries, so it would make sense in the game’s world. I’d love to build a huge wine cellar filled with glass bottles on wooden racks. Right now, we don’t have a great way to represent something like that, and it would add so much atmosphere. 8
Never Jhonsen Posted February 3, 2025 Report Posted February 3, 2025 I would LOVE to have scroll racks full of wine that can be stored indefinably; maybe instead of a spoil timer, it has an age counter. Glass bottle, sealed with a honeycomb cork. We could also make better lanterns with glass blowing, give them a little farther reach than a standard quartz lantern 3 hours ago, CADAVERIS said: Fits the historical feel – Glassblowing has been around for centuries, so it would make sense in the game’s world. Tacoman Posted February 15, 2025 Report Posted February 15, 2025 I also thought this would be a fine addition! Another idea I think would solve a problem in VS is knowing the temperature of a given place and its maximum and minimum temperatures throughout the year. Imagine shaping/crafting a glass test tube that can be used for a variety of crafts, but for a specific craft to make a thermometer. Thermometers use alcohol or mercury for the liquid, and mercury is naturally found in cinnabar so you could craft it from that or alternatively you could use aqua vitae as alcohol to craft. When placed, it will measure constantly and record the daily max/min temperatures but also the highest recorded and lowest recorded temps. This could show you how cold it gets at night and how hot it gets in the day for farming/when to know to put on winter clothes. Also the highest and lowest temps could tell you how cold/hot the region gets during the solstices (middle of winter/summer). The balance is you would need to let the temperature reach that solstice to record it, so if you placed the thermometer in summer, you would only know the coldest temp when a winter passes. 2
