merrygin Posted March 1, 2025 Report Posted March 1, 2025 Hi there, I would like to start up the VSMC on Ubuntu and have a hard time following the (sparse) explanation on github. I never built an application like that so I'm struggling to see if I do things right or wrong. Could somebody in the know walk me through it a bit more? I'd be super thankful! Also in general, updating the installing / startup instructions on github might be a good idea. Some specifics: I loaded up eclipse as Java IDE, importet vsmc via git, and am now kinda stuck following the instructions to configure the build path. Not sure if I'm including the right things or not. When I try to build, it throws errors or doesn't react at all. E.g., when hitting "run.." it prompts me to "select type" and I have no idea what that means. The github page doesn't explain what to do there. Another thing: the only Java 8-ish version I can choose is Java.1.8 - is that right? If not, how would I get the right one into eclipse? Thanks a lot to whomever is able and willing to help in advance!

Trimstain Posted March 1, 2025 Report Posted March 1, 2025 Could you post a screenshot of what is happening? Also Java.1.8 is Java 8 1

Thought I had some headaches coming my way when I read that it might just be broken... 1
merrygin Posted March 1, 2025 Author Report Posted March 1, 2025 (edited) Oh to post the way to go here too: You can open it directly without building / compiling anything via command line with this: java -Xms2048m -jar vsmodelcreator.jar Edited March 1, 2025 by merrygin 1
