i have a pit all fenced in with rams i dont believe the bear couldve jumped the fences  but i did have grass blocks at the bottom of the pit how can i prevent this in the future i  had one oil bowl at the bottom for light i had all gen 1s on my way to 2s

would be nice to see a snapshot of the pen/fencing..

things to consider...

at least 2 blocks outside the fence around should be cleared so no leg up's can happen.  snow will elevate, so that could be an issue.  while a fence done proper will prevent a bear from climbing over, they still have that 1-2 block reach over the fence to paw at the livestock, a 2nd fence 2 blocks out can distance the bear from the pen.

not sure lighting helps unless the pen has a roof, preventing sunlight, in which case you absolute need brighter lighting than 1 oil lamp.  but thats more to prevent despawning of the rams.  speaking of roofs, it would be good if no roof exists, to place a lightening rod at a certain height above the pen.  rams might be able to take a lightening strike, but chickens won't..
