How to make non- slanted roofs with shingles?

I can't get screenshots rn so I drew an image of what I mean:

I'm trying to make a more rounded looking roof, which means the roof isn't always at a 45 degree angle, and I can't figure out how to make the roof tile blocks look good. Ive been playing in creative mode to make a house before I build it for real in survival, so I can see what all the materials look like

if only shingles could be chiseled?

though not exactly desirable looking, top/cap shingles kinda of work on a flat roof(?)  (maybe not so much idk)

a number of mods pop up on the shingle search, maybe?
