Some questions concerning starting a server with a friend.

Hallo fellow Vintarians,

I had some questions regards starting a multiplayer world with a friend, modded.
For starters, I presume the time in the world will keep advancing if no one is online. How would we manage food preservation?
And what about the farms, if it suddenly reaches winter temperatures while we're not online to manage them?

Is there any difficulty in adding mods to a server, or something I should keep in mind that wouldn't be obvious?
And any recommendations for hosting the server? Sadly the official server option from Anego Studios don't include mod support yet. I'd probably preferred to have chosen that if I could.

Actually, if no one is online, the world clock is paused :)

From what I remember of my short-lived, self-hosted 1.16 private server, all you have to do is drop your mods into the labeled folder and you're done. There may be some mods that need to be configured, but that'll be mod-specific; they'll state that on their main page.

I used an old PC to host mine. Intel i5 second gen processor, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, and it handled three people just fine :) They DID have to get my IP address to connect to it, so I don't recommend this method for public hosting with strangers.

That is very good to know, and seems very straightforward.
Thank you @Never Jhonsen!

Good luck. White listing yourself has to be done as well before you can log into the server.

If you are going to host the server locally in your network then it's really easy to start the world as a single player world and then copy it to the server. That way you can configure it like normal.

Good luck!

Managed to set up the server through Something Unique Hosting, and everything seems to work flawlessly!
Had some trouble uploading my singleplayer world cause of the file size, but the support was super quick and helpful.
