  1. New chunks can have them or if you regenerate chunks they can appear. They are pretty common right now so if you explore new chunks you will find one sooner or later.
  2. I personally just build the new larger windmill now and skip the small one. You can also make a stupid looking windmill and get at least 2 of them working on the same large gear.
  3. I just give myself a temporal gear if I want to do this. Is it cheating.. yes, but sometimes why not. I sort of hate the "must have' mod lists. I think you should try the game as intended and then adjust to what makes you happy. Starting off with mods just robs you of the fun of figuring out what works for you. I would say "me too!" but then I remember sometimes I sleep just to pass time through the winter or to get leather faster. I really hate looking at the barrel and it says 1.1 days out of 4.5 days. I think your right, this is the intent of the game. You are supposed to die and die and die, but darn it I hate dying in games... In my day dying in a game meant something!
  4. This has to be the first "required" mod list that I've seen that doesn't list Carry On.
  5. Once they added Elk and musk oxe, it's not that hard to find meat and fat in cooler climates now. It used to be really hard when it was only polar bears and foxes to eat meat wise.
  6. They still spawn normally. They just added a "story location" treasure hunter so you don't have to hunt for it. I had one world where I had to travel 6k to find a treasure hunter. Since it is random you can have very bad luck. If you bought the map, I suggest you just go into creative mode and just load in a treasure hunter trader in another traders area and call it a day.
  7. They have mentioned that caves will be changed at some point. I'm not sure if the vertical shafts will go away or not though.
  8. I keep forgetting this one.
  9. True, but at least you need to have copper technology to do this.
  10. This one is so annoying once you realize what you have done. I did that my first time as well. - When fireclay became craftable only I thought you had to have a mix of red and blue clay to make it. So I had to hunt around the map to find the rare blue clay spawn before I made fireclay for one playthrough. - My first playthrough I put 4 pieces of coal in the forge to heat up one ingot. (before the forge change in 1.22) There are so many stupid things I'm forgetting.
  11. You don't even need to be that complicated. I had a stack of animals at the fence to my farm so I just dug a hole to see what would happen and they just hop right in. It's only a small hole on one side of my farm and it has collected way too many animals in 7 game days. I saw that in the patch notes during the release candidates, but I didn't know it was bugged until they said something. They should set it back to bugged, because it is just to easy to catch animals this way. It's really simple to create fences so the cost of the fence vs all the free meat is out of balance. You could easily abuse this as well by setting up multilpe crop areas and having animals traps at each one.
  12. Not sure I've ever heard that one before. You need the anvil anyway so it isn't a big deal. There is so much surface copper around that getting enough to make the anvil isn't a big issue to me. Iron for me is purely about durability, which is also the reason I go past bronze as fast as I can. I wouldn't mind if iron was a bit harder somehow if bronze was more durable. As it stands now it is more annoying to find everything I need for bronze all the time vs finding one iron vein and being done. In lore mode iron could be in a Iron Mine POI only that requires you to fight to get it. That would force you to get armor to get iron. Maybe that wouldn't be a popular idea, but it is an idea. If lore mode was turned off you would have to just go back to like it is now.
  13. Yeah, packed earth is your friend. I always try to surround my pit kilns with it or something else that doens't grow grass. I got lazy and just cut the grass on my current playthrough and almost burned everything around me. My house is never flammable so that isn't a problem for me.
  14. Always interesting to hear this, since I kill off the locusts for the most part and go back to the boss. I don't feel they spawn that fast and since I'm a blackguard I can kill them in one hit. You're going to love it or hate the chapter 2 part. I fall into the hate it camp myself, but that all depends on your playstyle. Although I haven't done chapter 2 since it was reworked. I guess I'm due to suffer through it again.
