Is there a way to host multiplayer in sessions some external server?
Zane Mordien replied to Orchidrose's topic in Questions
The server game clock will stop when you are all logged out in the default settings. As long as your friends have self control and only play together then it will be the same as playing on the a LAN. The server will be up 24/7, but just set a password and no one else can log into it. -
Any world settings or mods to make natural caves bigger, longer, deeper?
Zane Mordien replied to Kaldo's topic in Questions
Cave generation is still a work in progress. What is there now is a placeholder from what I've gathered. -
Adjust worldconfig for self-hosted server _before_ initial worldgen?
Zane Mordien replied to Xplosionist's topic in Questions
If you have control over the save game folder, then I highly recommend you just create a single player game the way you want it and copy/paste it into the server save game directory. I run a linux server and I start a single player game on my windows machine and then transfer it over to the save game directory. -
In addition to what LadyWYT said you also have to build markers to help you find your way back home since the map won't return you home. Simple packed dirt pillars will suffice with a block on top pointing the way you came from. I also recommend you burn your way to the story location so you can easily spot the path back. I'm glad you decided to play regular at first. I highly recommend learning the game mechanics for jumping into wilderness survival.

I guess that is the thing though. They have to create some type of system that allows people to reasonably be able to feed themselves on a server or get resources for that matter. There is plenty of ore typically so they have that under control for a reasonably populated server, but food is a different story. Seems like it would be an easy fix to change the fishing mechanic for servers so people could fish more without depleating the area.

Well, something is going on with the server because it keeps giving this error over and over. So, I'm going to guess this is a mod problem. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly what mod it is, but it looks like you are trying to do something and that causes your game to crash. Strangely the sever doesn't crash... it just suspends. I don't run a lot of mods on my server so I've never seen this problem. 4.4.2026 07:26:22 [Server Notification] Client funnyboy tried to place a block but rejected because OnPlaceBlock returns false. Go into VS and into the Mod Manager then click on the "Open Mods Folder". You save game files are up a folder or so in windows and I can't imagine it is any different in mac.

I just consider the dungeons as a work in progress. It's a good start and I'm sure some modder will go crazy with it. They make more sense than the random underground ruins in my opinion. Although I guess maybe they should have a translocator in them or at least a broken one.

Irrigation with no infinite water source blocks
Zane Mordien replied to EnbyKaiju's topic in Discussion
It wouldn't surprise me if they did it one day way down the road. The flowing water blocks are the first step and riveres are the second which are coming in the next version. -

Same, when I play where I can't move water blocks I take over a lake as well. -
Probaby need to ask the mod creator.

There is a fix most likely but it's hard to troubleshoot from a post. The generic answer is that it is a port forwarding issue, but if they could connect before then it should still be possible. Check the server log to see what it says and use an external website to ping the port to make sure it is open.
-
It's all in the port forwarding. The firewall on or off won't matter if you don't have the port successfully forwarded to your machine. Try one of the websites that ping your port to see if it's open first.
-
I never would have gotten to this answer, but it's always something stupid like this.
-
@Belankar Is this your first server or do you have others you have set up before? It's stupid to say this, but it is almost always the port forwarding. Use one of the websites that checks if your port is open would be my first advice.

Clay is everywhere. You just don't recognize it when you see it. Look at the pictures people have posted in the thread and you will find it. That or start a new playthrough, there is a small chance you just have a seed where clay isn't around. It's very very rare but can happen if the conditions aren't right for clay to spawn.

It's not like Halite is a "must have" anyway. I don't actively look for halite myself. If I have it great and if I don't, oh well.

The trick to copper is to find a gravel area and look for surface copper there. Surface copper is really common, but when you are new to the game it's hard to spot. The gravel areas are typicially an easy place to spot it though becuase there is no grass and fewer bushes. -
New player looking for tips regarding: Bronze Acquisition
Zane Mordien replied to Telios's topic in Questions
If the trader doesn't load thats a bug. It's been happening to me as well. When that happens I go into creative mode and pick the trader I want and load them in. That's better but not worth a long trip in my opinion. If it's reasonably close to your base or the same as the .07 then go for it. -

What does that translate to in the game for Poor, decent, etc...? Typically, a Decent reading is all you need to find any ore, but I will use a poor reading if it is right next to my base. It will take 3-4 tries usually and you find it.
