In 1.20 update, some recipes were changed to pot-made, like candles and sylvites.New sturdy leather recipes is also pot-made.

Heating pot is slow, and we finally get low output at once. What's more, this pot couldn't be used for cooking anymore.

A large pot, or called cauldron is a good solution. It might be more industrial recipes in the future.

We need a more effective way for large scale chemical.

Just like 2x4 large door and bee hive, we can experience the whole story without them, but they are really useful sometimes.

i think a Cauldron would be great for making some barrel recipes. for instance tannin is made in game with a barrel and waiting, meanwhile if you were to boil the wood in water like you can do in real life it could speed up the creation of liquid tannin, maybe make the output less than the input so like 4:1=1 to make it more resource effective to wait, while time effective to boil. similarly if you have a giant cauldron you could make larger recipes or even make soup, which would allow someone who put in the metal resources to get more food out of less.

we could also do metal vats after making steel, using it as a way to make industrial levels of material, especially if we make it a large structure similar to the windmill. in fact if we used both structures i could see us making classical old well systems, a windmill and auger to drill for water while a larger vat with pipe systems could make a minor sprinkler for industrial farming. all of course using copper pipes and steel ingot to make it worth advancing towards. and if the larger the vat the more inventory space for materials it would make it easier to do industrial tanning, dying, or composting.

speaking of which composting should allow us to mix compost with water to make liquid compost, and then liquid compost to make more fertile soil. even if it destroys a barrel to make a fresh block of more fertile soil, i would rather do that than deal with searching endlessly for highly fertile soil after forgetting to rotate crops and ending up with dead farmland.
