waterlimon Posted April 12, 2025 Report Posted April 12, 2025 This might be personal opinion (I personally prefer a mix of blocky and realistic), but I wish the fire and smoke particle effects had more realism (or even just density like more particles) to them. I could not find this already suggested and could not find a mod that does this :c
LadyWYT Posted April 14, 2025 Report Posted April 14, 2025 Welcome to the forums! Keeping in mind that aside from artstyle preferences, more particles often means more processing power required. Aside from that, I believe smoke effects received an update in 1.20, though that may be just for explosion effects specifically.
D3K01 Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 the only real plus could give for setting up a stronger smoke system would be making a smokehouse for cooking long lasting meat products. fire already has a high realistic effect with it's ability to set every plant around it on fire, but unless you are actively attempting to set the grasslands on fire, it should be pretty decent as is. honestly the only update i would want for fire, would be making a forge that lasts longer in a similar way to the bread oven.
Hubertus Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 It also looks like smoke collects in enclosed rooms, but it doesn't seem to have an effect or does it only take very long for it to kick in? Something like having to vent out smoke would be more interesting to me than better looking particles.
Morndenkainen Posted April 16, 2025 Report Posted April 16, 2025 IDK, I kind of feel like fire should spread a bit more aggressively, especially in the summer... Sometimes, I'd just like to start a wildfire and watch the whole countryside turn to ash. It'd be nice to see a thin layer of ash over every block that had grass, a bush, or a tree on it after a fire that goes away with the next rain. Kind of like a crappy bonemeal type fertilizer. Be a good way to clear land for farming too.
