Amadeo4444 Posted May 20, 2025 Report Posted May 20, 2025 I had an idea about the rust dimension. I'll say right away that I'm not a lore expert. I'd like it if, as part of the plot, at some point we triggered an event that would change temporal storms, that is, during a temporal storm we would be transported to the rust dimension, whether we wanted to or not. Of course, I understand the opinion that the rust dimension is supposed to be something ephemeral and inaccessible that carries a threat, but I think there's much greater potential in it. So, we move to the rust dimension not when we feel like it, but when the barrier between the two worlds is greatly reduced. We can lose items there irretrievably. We move parts of new types of machines there that will allow us to conduct research on the other side, the electricity or other energy introduced earlier would allow us to transform temporal gears into a fluid that powers new technologies that will allow us to map the rust dimension. Of course, this would require rebuilding the entire concept, I'd love to see something like the other side from Stranger Things. This is a loose concept that would give us the opportunity to explore this terrible and fascinating world. Of course I wouldn't want it to turn into the Minecraft Nether. 2
LadyWYT Posted May 21, 2025 Report Posted May 21, 2025 I suspect we'll see a "Rust World visit" implemented as part of the story, at some point, though one can never be certain. If/when such a visit occurs, I daresay it will be a specific story mission, and not something that's repeatable otherwise. As for mapping what's on the other side--there's no real reason to map it if it's a one-time visit, and tampering with that realm may have been what wrecked the world to begin with. The other reason I wouldn't encourage much mapping/research is to keep the Rust World somewhat mysterious; if you explain everything to the player and leave nothing to the imagination, the overall impact wears off fairly fast. 4
Raiback Posted July 13, 2025 Report Posted July 13, 2025 Being able to travel to the Rust Dimension would be incredible, though overwhelming at the same time. But before reaching that point, some enemy aspects need improvement like item drops and such to make the idea more appealing and ensure the risk/reward is worth it. 3
