Steam deck meat harvesting

I recently got the game and I'm loving it! I am having trouble with harvesting meat or other loot from animals and corpses though. I play it using a steam deck. I looked how to harvest drops from mobs, (shift while right clicking), but it's still not working. I got the red crosshair, I've tried different angles but nothing pops up. I do have some mods install so if there's any mods that could effect that or if there's a better controller layout please let me know.

Make sure you’re very close to the creatures. It can be a bit finicky. I’ve found getting close to the belly on quadrupeds and the torso on bipeds seems to work pretty well, though I’m not sure if it’s an actual feature. It seems to work just fine (or as fine as on PC) on Steam Deck for me. Just try different angles/positions until something works. If it really won’t work for you - the Butchering mod offers alternative (though more labor intensive) ways to harvest animals, and there’s at least one mod that makes rust creatures drop their loot on death and quickly despawn.
