Since starting the game I have loved exploring and hunting different animals. And when I found that we can make black powder, I have really wanted the ability to make a simple flintlock. We have metal, flint, black powder and lead. A flint lock would provide a slow (realistic) reload animation and better knock down power. If the shot is placed well. I think this should be added to the Road map simply because some people just like not using a bow or sling or spear. You would have to carry extra supplies like a powder horn and lead balls (Which could be made like they did in the old days where you drip liquid lead from a high height into water to form a lead ball) and patches. It would take a long time to get to this point in the game but would be so nice and in my opinion rather balanced... I hate using a bow and Iron spear... I want my all AMERICAN guns! MERICA!!!

What are your thoughts?

I do agree on the idea of progression but imo it should take the form of traps. Starting with something like sharpening stakes to make a pit trap, to springmetal bear traps and things inbetween.

Not only could they be used for hunting, but defense as well. Drop a few traps behind you and be sure not to forget them. A shiver with its foot stuck in a beartrap won't be quite as fast.

I'm glad there is a mod for firearms and it is really sad that they dont want to add simple ones to the game even just a pipe with a fuse would be cool. Just seems odd to have bombs but not guns you know?

I'm not so sure about that.  I think it would take lopping off limbs for them to slow down.

Now I don't know much about bear traps, but I expect they're staked into the ground and/or weighted, given the idea isn't just to maim the animal but keep it there so all you have to do is return to where you've placed traps.
I'd think maybe weaker monsters might get stuck or slowed but yeah a nightmare would barely notice it.
