Feliponius Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Twice now I've poured molten metal into a mold and had the brainwave to toss the ingot into water to cool it. So naturally, my doofus self broke the ingot mold thinking the ingot would drop on the ground or in my inventory, only to lose the metal. Is there any way we can either pick up the mold with tongs and toss into water, or have some way to remove a partially cooled ingot from the mold to do the same? Obviously not high priority. Just a thought!
FlareUKCS Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Since 1.20 if water gets onto any mold (like rain for example) that has hot metal in it, the mold will break and the metal will be in pieces.
Facethief Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 The reason you can’t grab higher temp ingots is because they’re fully or partially liquid. Even if you could grab them, I bet they’d still make them shatter: the contraction wouldn’t do wonders on any of the metals you can cast.
Thorfinn Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Thermal shock is a big deal IRL. Just get used to doing something else. Not like there's nothing to keep you busy...
