Steve B Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 This game is AMAZBALLZ! And deserves much more recognition and love from all corners of the gaming globe. And one way to add a boost is by inviting members from Hololive to give this game a try. Minecraft streams have been done to death and frankly, I think people are starting to get bored with them. Sure, the events can be fun. But in the end, it's still just the same ole' same ole'.. Vintage, even though it's NOT Minecraft, still bears that familiarity that Holomembers can relate to while still feeling like something completely new and different. And since the game is not on Steam, what better way to get this game some extra love it deserves by tapping into the millions of Hololive fans!?.. I sincerely think the devs should reach out to the Hololive offices and work out all the permissions necessary and inform the HoloStaff on how to apply game translations so JP and EN members can both play. Many Hololive members are extremely talented when it comes to building and creation, and I have no doubt they could create some amazing villages, structures, while creating new and fantastic experiences and memories for the fans. I mean, sure, other Vtubers have and do play Vintage story. But none of them have the fan base, talent, or entertainment sway to get an entirely new and massive fanbase interested like Holomembers could. Even if the devs have to give holomembers the game for free, it would still be worth it when a spike in new players arrives. It just makes sense for the financial gain and entertainment value. So yeah, that's my 2 cents off my chest.
myenemies Posted September 21, 2025 Report Posted September 21, 2025 i'm kind of hesitant to indulge the eagerness to have big-name streamers and creators tell their audiences about the game... from my understanding the devs have been very deliberate about their release process/trying to handle the growth of the community and their feedback. i definitely agree that the game deserves more love but i think equally the devs deserve to have the pacing that they want for the game, to get feedback as the community incrementally grows over time so that they don't lose sight of their goals because of too much input that being said, i think i heard about one of the Hermitcraft members, GeminiTay, mentioning vintage story on one of her streams or videos, and i have mixed feelings even about that. i'm glad that she's discovered the game and that she enjoys it, but i do have concerns exactly for the reasons i mentioned above; the devs don't want to be inundated by too much input, and i certainly don't want an influx of several thousands of new players (...and kind of especially, i don't want an excessive influx of extremely young players that want to treat it with the simplicity of minecraft and then complain that it's too hard.) in the future, when the devs have reached a point where they're more satisfied with their progress and feel more secure in their ability to handle a larger fanbase, i would be a lot more supportive of popular streamers and creators calling larger attention to the game. as it stands, though, i quite like the relatively-small community that exists now 1

I'll also note that while it's perfectly fine to get "big names" to play a game for publicity...it's just that--a publicity stunt, that can quite easily come across as a bribe instead of genuine interest. Players should play Vintage Story because they're interested in and enjoy the game itself, not because it's what a popular influencer played or because it's a popular game in general. 19 hours ago, myenemies said: the devs don't want to be inundated by too much input, and i certainly don't want an influx of several thousands of new players (...and kind of especially, i don't want an excessive influx of extremely young players that want to treat it with the simplicity of minecraft and then complain that it's too hard.) Also agreed. It's not unusual to see the occasional complaint thread arise on the forums, arguing that the game is too hard, or a specific thing is "bad"...heck there's a thread or two like that now. Threads like that also tend to be more common when there are major changes to the game; for example, 1.20 introduced new monsters, and the reactions were mixed--some players didn't like the new challenge that combat presented. However, the complaints disappeared fairly quickly given that most players either learned how to deal with the new monsters, or otherwise modded the monsters out of their game. In any case, I would be concerned about a large influx of players coming into Vintage Story expecting it to be like the other block game(or other easier games in general), getting frustrated by Vintage Story's learning curve and overall difficulty, and then slamming the game and aggressively demanding changes to cater to them as a result. That's not to say it would happen, or that none of them would enjoy Vintage Story for what it is, however...it's also not unheard of for such influxes of players to end up changing the core of a game, to the extent it loses what made it special. That's not to say that the dev team would listen to such complaints either, however, it would certainly get exhausting to deal with day in and day out, and wear down the community as a whole. 19 hours ago, myenemies said: in the future, when the devs have reached a point where they're more satisfied with their progress and feel more secure in their ability to handle a larger fanbase, i would be a lot more supportive of popular streamers and creators calling larger attention to the game. as it stands, though, i quite like the relatively-small community that exists now Not to mention that organic growth gives the devs time to build appropriate infrastructure to handle a larger playerbase, as well as ensuring that the players in said playerbase are there because they actually enjoy the game. I don't know who Hololive is, but I would say that if they were really that popular, they ought to be able to afford their own copies of the game. I will also note that the moment one particular creator gets free copies of the game, then the precedent is set for all other creators to also get free copies. Otherwise, it's just playing favorites. But like I was saying previously...when the game is good, you don't need to bribe "big names" in order to attract more players. Good word-of-mouth assessments of a game from friends/people who actually bought the game with their own money hold a lot more weight than some big name who may have only played it due to a bribe or contract. 1
DatDot1337 Posted October 16, 2025 Report Posted October 16, 2025 Personally I hope Hololive and their audience stays away from VS, as I kind of like how many people with unique talents and knowledge there are and the ideas they share, and I feel like they would get lost in the massive crowd of children and young teenagers HoloLive would bring with them. Although I have heard that Hololive people need permission from the devs to stream a game, so if it ever happens at least the devs and us will be aware of it ahead of time.
