So, when I'm exploring my world I usually mark everything on my map. The problem with this is that my map gets extremely cluttered with lots of markers, but I can't live without it ;-;

So I was thinking about the possibility of creating tabs for groups of markers. So we could create a tab just for translocator markers, a tab for cave entrances, ruins, mines, whatever we think is necessary. And with this the possibility of hiding the tabs as needed, this way the map would be less cluttered.

For example: I have a group of markers for mines, but it is hidden because I am not planning on mining at the moment, so all the markers in this group do not show up to me. However, when I need to mine, I can enable the tab so that the markers appear and I can see their locations on the map.

Yes please! I know there is a mod that does this (I think there are two) but they cause the game to become extremely laggy when you utilize the feature. Getting a solid solution directly into the game would be great!

Do you know the name of the mods? I'd like to take a look

At a guess, https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/22391. It has all the nice to have features, and is mostly up to date, but I don't use waypoints anyway, so can't comment much on how well it works. Used it a time or two is all.

FWIW, I didn't find it to slow things too badly, but it is pretty heavy if you don't have a decent machine. Thing is, if you like a lot of mods, and are using kind of a mediocre system, it's going to cause problems any time you open the map. Look at your memory usage. If you are mostly capped out, it's not going to work well.

This is how I imagined this working.

A drop-down on the marker creation/editing screen would have group names and the option "new group". A new group gets the name, marker color, icon, and pin status like a normal marker would. This allows for the same marker to be used for multiple groups with the same or different colors. Selecting a group from the list would update the marker to have the group's settings and editing the marker would edit the group settings. A group would automatically be deleted when all of its markers have been deleted.

On the side of the map would be a drop-down or other interface listing all groups. Clicking a group name would toggle visibility for that group.

Edit: Being able to toggle visibility of all ungrouped markers as a single group would also be nice.
