So in my own house I decided to move my outside cellar into an underground one. However, I starter building with the my vision in mind without realising that the true to life slanted cellar doors that you see aren't in the game.

Theres a great variety of doors in the game already so maybe allowing them to be placed at an angle somehow would be prudent over just adding in some special prefabed "cellar door" right and left sort of thing.

Regardless, I do understand that the programming implications of something like this could be too much to bear but i'd like to hear some feedback on the topic.

It could be done, but they’d clip into other blocks like nobody’s business, and they’d have to take up two blocks in depth to let you walk down them.

True, I think you could make them look pretty close to perfect with chiseling but that's a good argument for it being a prefab

A prefab door is the only way I can think of for getting it to work. It might look nice, but it's a very situational use, unlike the other door options we have in the game already. I do like the idea, but I'm not sure it's worth it if it only has that niche use.

Unless I'm mistaken, there are solid trapdoors that you could achieve similar effects with in the game already, with a bit of chiselwork surrounding them.

Not a problem. 2x2 doors take the space in front of them to secure their open position even when they are closed.

If so, then they’d have to take up 3 blocks in depth and 2 in height to minimize clipping. It’d be fine, but still a bit much.

If we can have vertical 2x1 doors from the start and even those huge 3x2 doors it doesn't make any sense to how we cant have horizontal 2x1 doors, they just have to work the same way in a different direction that's it we already have trap doors so thats the next step for that.
I actually even needed one at one point in a build I was making to access a roof/attic.

I'd settle for just letting you place doors horizontal.

Can probably just crouch when placing to do so. Easy solution easy implementation. Hopefully it makes it in.
