Maelstrom Posted July 24, 2025 Report Posted July 24, 2025 Welcome to the forums!!!! Good to see new content creators giving VS some love. Forever world? In VS? Be prepared for the occassional very.... uhhhh... disjointed, jarring terrain transitions. Similar to chunk border errors in TOBG but hundreds of blocks in height, which may happen in upgrading to 1.21. 2

I wanted to do a "Forever World" back in 1.15 (although I didn't call it that; I just don't like constantly making new worlds). Sadly, I had to make a new world for 1.18.0, as (at the time) it was said that no 1.17 worlds could generate the New Chapter 1 story content. But! I'm still running on that very same world I have moved my base once, back in mid-1.19, as that helps in keeping the world feeling fresh and new, as well as adding things to do. I've already decided to move again after 1.21 drops, as I'm already at the point of "I've done absolutely everything I can ingame". Looking forward to it 3 hours ago, Maelstrom said: Be prepared for the [occasional] very.... uhhhh... disjointed, jarring terrain transitions [...] which may happen in upgrading to 1.21. Uh oh. 1

Despite my travels in 1.19, as even more so in 1.20, I haven't encountered a single chunk border error I DO notice the difference between 1.18 and 1.20 terrain; I go from mountainous forests and rough terrain, to a lot of flatter forests and smoother terrain, and I have seen those jagged chunk borders in older worlds, such as my 1.15-1.17 world I mentioned before (and also in that other block game), but this current 1.18+ world has been free of those. 1
Maelstrom Posted July 25, 2025 Report Posted July 25, 2025 There was a change in world generation in 1.18. So upgrading from pre-1.18 to 1.18 would likely have some very abrupt cliffaces. 1
Mr_Saturday Posted August 1, 2025 Author Report Posted August 1, 2025 Thank you everyone, I will keep that in mind when moving forward. I did keep the old world for quite some time before my pc gave out. I'm pretty sure I started this world in the newest update or a day before. It has been a fun time starting new again with some fresh ideas. Definitely doing better than the first time I played which was the old world. 1
Maelstrom Posted August 1, 2025 Report Posted August 1, 2025 Hopefully there won't be anymore updates to world gen, beyond whenever Tyron figures out rivers. Even if there aren't any revisions to world gen algorithms, there's still 6 planned story events that may have some special terrain generation associated with them and will require special commands for generating them in pre-existing worlds. 2
