Iscariot Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 So, I got vintage story probably like.. a week, maybe 2-3 weeks ago? Anyways. Ive since entered the Iron Age. (If you saw my previous post you'll see exactly how I entered it hehe) But I decided to finally build a house! I had been living in dirt and logs, and one time I desperately needed firewood, so I had to take one of the logs! qwQ But I figured that now that I have the tools, the wealth, and the supplies for it... I should make a house! Well, now I'm still *technically* living in dirt and wood, but it's fancy now. No longer dirt it's "artisanal mud" and "fine cut pine" Here's the before and after! Pretty sweet! Inside I have a little personal room, a kitchen/living space, and a basement with a connected cellar! Now I just really need to work on the lighting... Which with my bees, I should have candles and a lantern soon! I am near possible zinc though... Torch holders would be nice... Anyways! Interior pics! It's currently October in my world.. Winter is close and I need more food. This will be my first ever winter! So I suppose if I survive this well... I wont be a new player anymore ^w^ I'm ready for it! Next, I need to find a large source of lime, borax, and maybe salt if I really wanna cure meats. What my more realistic goals are at the moment are a helve hammer for the tons of iron I picked up, pulverizer thingy so I can get into refractory bricks, and getting into farming boars and chickens. 5

Just a small tip in regards to salt--if you're having troubles finding a salt deposit, you can always buy salt from commodities or survival goods traders. It'll cost you a few gears, of course, but it can help jumpstart your food preserving endeavors. 1

I have a few gears saved up, but I haven't spent em since I figured I could just get most stuff the old fashioned way. I do think currently, the best course of action for meats and such would be to seal some meals up in a crock -w- I do have one question, during winter, will bees in skeps die? or just go dormant, because I really dont wanna travel back and wait where the natural hive was again...

Nah, they just go dormant when it gets too cold out. 1

That before looks very similar to the first ever house I built on Vintage Story The first tree I chopped down ended up being a large oak tree (an event which greatly skewed my early days of VS tree -> log output), and not being able to carry even 1/2 of what dropped, I just built a log house right on the spot. It was. .. well only a mother could love an ugly baby, lets put it that way 1 1
