Playing with a friend on my singleplayer world that i opened up, can i add mods and he still join?

As the title says im playing with a friend on a server that is singleplayer then opened up to MP whenever we are both free, i was wondering if i can install mods and then he can just join and auto download/install them or if hed have to install all the same mods so he can join in again.

Welcome to the forums! To my knowledge, the game should prompt him and download/install the mods he needs automatically with the simple click of a button when he first tries to join the modded world. The only potential issue I could see is performance, depending on which mods you install, since you're running a server and playing on the same PC, essentially.

Thanks! i worry a bit too but i got a fairly hefty internet and computer so it should be good doubly so since it should be lighter stuff.
