Can someone please explain exactly how to smelt copper?

I started playing the game a couple months ago and still have no idea how to do this. I don't understand the instructions that the game gives. Can someone please help me?

First you'll need a crucible, and a mold to pour the molten copper into. Put the nuggets of copper into the crucible and heat in a firepit to smelt, then grab the crucible with tongs(in your offhand) and pour into the mold. Twenty nuggets equals one ingot.

Regarding the fuel, you need some sort of charcoal/coal to smelt copper/most other metals, as you need to get the crucible hot enough for the ore to actually smelt. Also keep in mind that the more ore you try to smelt at once, the longer the process will take.
