xXNuclearDudeXx Posted December 10, 2025 Report Posted December 10, 2025 I'm on the most recent official version of Vintage Story and it seems I can't knap any tools. When I place the flint or any other chippable rock down to form my character can't break the pixels. I've tried pressing Alt and left clicking along with the other suggestions. Recently I uninstalled and reinstalled the game which didn't work as I heard it could be an update issue but that didn't change anything. I uninstalled all my mods out of desperation, but I am still encountering the same problem. If anyone can give me any suggestions on how to fix this issue, I'd be greatly appreciated.
Forks Posted December 10, 2025 Report Posted December 10, 2025 Not sure if you are new or not so I'll ask the question most obvious to myself. Do you have a rock/flint of the same type in your hand while trying to knap the placed rock/flint?
xXNuclearDudeXx Posted December 10, 2025 Author Report Posted December 10, 2025 No I don't have anything in my hand or hot bar as when I knap it the rock disappears from my inventory. Recently another problem arose where my mod tab to tweak everything isn't showing up as an option when pressing esc. I'm on version v1.21.6-rc (Unstable) and I'm unsure how to go back to the stable one lol I just started playing this game as you can tell.

A) I see the knapping grid, but can't break the pixels B) I don't see a knapping grid, when I expect one Maybe turn on Block Interaction Help (under Settings, Interface) and take a screenshot while looking at the rock on the ground, so that we can see if it recognises it. If you have mods, especially the knapping one, then try disabling that. Thanks, Professor Dragon.
Yerik Posted December 10, 2025 Report Posted December 10, 2025 Knapping only works if you hit one rock with another. Make sure you have a rock/flint in your hand when working on it in the world. 2 1

My only problem I have left is my mod menu is gone which lets me interact with Better Ruins and other mods when I press ESC. Thank to those who are replying right now on these posts I appreciate it 1
