Like the title says, got an interesting bug/feature for a modded multiplayer server. Everything works fine while playing, but for whatever reason players aren't able to join the server unless it's very recently been turned on. Otherwise they get 'failed to connect' and we have to rehost multiple times as more people get online. It's manageable, just annoying. Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this?

A friend is running it himself. We floated the idea of hosting it somewhere but we're not sure if we'll have the same issue with the added bonus of spending money for it.
