thee_ox Posted December 24, 2025 Report Posted December 24, 2025 In real life, goats graze and live off of grass and other plants. It would be cool if goats in the game could graze freely, and then when the grass is all eaten, they could be herded to another field, maybe using a special item relating to shepherds to move domesticated goats such as a cane or a staff or something. This way food troughs wouldn’t be necessary, AND it’s a good way to clear annoying bushes, ferns, or even just grass. Anyways, hope someone sees this and likes the idea. 6
BlackMoonHowling Posted December 28, 2025 Report Posted December 28, 2025 I’d love for all the grazing type animals to be able to actually eat the grass maybe at gen 1, that way as you domesticate them during warm seasons they can feed themselves provided they have the space. Then like you said you can cycle them through different pastures 2
lobotorny Posted January 2 Report Posted January 2 This is a great idea, but I think it should apply to all livestock, not just goats. Maybe a system like Rimworld’s animal pen markers that can calculate the amount of foliage within a pen that can be used as food. In Rimworld, the number it gives is for the limit of animals that can graze continuously, but for VS it would probably show you how many days they could graze until needing a different pasture. 2
marmarmar34 Posted January 2 Report Posted January 2 The only issue I can see is that livestock feed is used to just breed more animals. If left unchecked, you could have a population crisis. 1
