I can't place things down when I change my sprint key. help? Does anyone have a solution?

Hello! So when playing games, I like my sprint key to be my middle mouse button, and by default, the button for sprinting is control. That's all good, I know how to change bindings, the problem is when I change the bindings, I can no longer place certain items down (like water or tools). When I change the sprint to the middle mouse button, pressing control to put something down no longer works. It says that pressing the middle mouse button will do it, but when I do that, it doesn't do anything either. I tried just changing it to a few different letter keys, and still nothing. The way it's set up on my keyboard makes it really uncomfortable to keep control as my sprint, and it's really annoying because the only way it lets me fix it is by resetting ALL of my key binds. So I can't just temporarily change it without having to go back through all of them each time. The other issue is that while I know after a few days of playing with the default settings, I would get used to control as my sprint, having already played a few hours like that, it REALLY hurts my pinky (since that's the only finger that can barely reach it as I'm using movement controls). And while this game is amazing, I'm not going to physically hurt myself to play it.

Does anyone have a solution to work around this? Any keybinds that still let you set items and water down while changing the sprint key? Thank you!

Welcome to the forums!

By default, items are placed on the ground with shift + right-click, while tools are placed with ctrl + shift + right-click, assuming there is a wall to support them.

My guess is that you're probably hitting the wrong combination after rebinding the keys, but you might also try the solution that the OP in this thread figured out:
