Dio L Posted December 31, 2025 Report Posted December 31, 2025 (edited) Hi! this is kind of a silly question. I really like to collect the tapestries found rarely in underground ruins. On a few occasions I've come across a "rotten tapestry" which are always at least a little identifiable under the rot as real tapestries. I mention that they're identifiable because I find it kind of odd that they're clearly tapestries that are collectible, but seemingly can't be fixed or mended in any way to retrieve them. Usually a tapestry is first covered in rot and then the image "clears" when it's looked upon, so I'm also wondering if the permanent rotten tapestry is a bug or if it's just built-in that some tapestries aren't able to be picked up/can be found in this unfixable state. In this case, the rotten tapestry is clearly identifiable as the "Holy" tapestry, but cannot be picked up or fixed. Thanks in advance to any answers! Edited December 31, 2025 by Dio L Broken image

The way it 'clears' is that the mold overlay on the ruin's wall is a layer below the tapestry's model, and looking at it up close or from certain directions clips the mold in front of the tapestry. It's a bug, though rotten tapestries are meant to stay rotten. The ones that 'clear' when you look at them actually aren't rotten tapestries, they are normal tapestries that just have a mold layer behind them that clips through at certain angles. This also happens with wallpaper and tapestries if I remember right. Basically rotten tapestries are randomly substituted for regular tapestries when they generate in. Sometimes even only one segment of a tapestry can be rotten, and the others will be fine to pick up. They're useless, and break apart when you try to pick them up. Basically a "better luck next time you find this ruin" mechanic. In the case of the Holy tapestry here, the game would have generated this ruin with the Holy tapestry, but then run the odds to make part or whole of it rotten. It's just bad luck. Hopefully next time you find this ruin you have better luck with the tapestry RNG. Edited December 31, 2025 by ifoz 1
