I recently implemented my own wood type in my mod (using Aged Wood as a base so there's no tree or log types) and have been having trouble with specifically top slabs breaking (turning into error models) when they are covered with snow. I've used exclusively patches to implement it, this code I made for the slabs: Spoiler { "op": "addmerge", "path": "/variantgroups/0/states", "value": [ "scrap" ], "file": "game:blocktypes/wood/woodtyped/plankslab.json", "side": "Server" } It's specifically this "-up-snow" version of the slab, which shouldn't exist due to the skipVariants line in plankslab.json, but it generates regardless. If anyone knows why this is happening please let me know! Thanks!

Are you sure you are looking at an up variation of your scrap slab and not a down variation? Hit Ctrl+F3 and look at the block in question. The block info alone is not too precise. For some reason the game will only display one iteration of the block as the asset code, which is not necessarily the correct one. up-snow variations are not created because their top is at the height of a full block. Snow will cumulate on top naturally. The down and cardinal direction versions are special cases, because they are lower or smaller than normal blocks, which would result in strange results, floating snow and the like. Anyway, if you added a scrap texture for the plankslab correctly (/texture/block/wood/planks/scrap.png) you shouldn't get any errors. What do the logs tell you? Texture issues should pop up in client-main, but it's always good to keep an eye on server-main as well. Edited January 7 by Brady_The
SevenIndex Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 Sorry for the late response and lack of info, but I did more testing around the issue. I can confirm that they are "up-snow" variants of the Scrap Wood Planks that break instead of the intended "up-free" variants. Oddly enough this also happens with any other Wooden Slab. (pictured is an up facing Aged Wood Slab and a Birch Slab) Spoiler Testing in a different world didn't reproduce the same results through. Every single slab including my modded one functioned perfectly fine. Spoiler I'm assuming because of this that whatever causes this bug to occur is world related or due to changing the active modlist in some way I don't yet know. If you have insight on this please share it with me.

If it happens in one world, but not in another one it could be indeed a caching or block registry issue. If that is the case, the issue is most likely restricted to this one (older?) test world. I would go ahead and compare the client-main and server-main logs for both of those worlds. They very likely contain a clue to the reason what the issue is. If you want you could also share your mod here. I could have a look and see if I encounter these problems too. Edit: Did you potentially do some work on the json files for these blocks after you placed some down? If you did, that might explain your issues, because placed blocks do not update automatically. Brady_The Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 (edited) Your logs don't show anything, mine do neither. Ingame everything looks like it should. It seems that the issue resolved itself. You could connect to the world in which the error appears and place down new slab, see if those are affected as well, but if these error blocks don't appear in any newly created worlds, it is pretty safe to assume that the issue are no longer.
