An Early Industrial Themed RP Server

The machine of progress cares not who gets in the way; your lives are spare parts in a greater mechanism.

We are a place created by experienced role-players from across different mediums with the purpose to create the most engaging and immersive roleplay experience that Vintage Story can offer. 

We launched just over a week ago (as of 22/06/26) and the world's already finding its feet. There's a steady population, new faces every day, and the first interactions between Settlements are starting to expand into stories, alongside continuous worldbuilding/ambient events courtesy of our GMs. There is still plenty of room to plant your flag on your patch of the new world, however.

The setting's a low-fantasy, early-industrial world where magic used to pick the kings until a ritual went wrong and it blew the non-Orcish capital sky-high. Now the ruling powers run on steam, alchemy, and clockwork, and magic's either banned or quietly exploited behind closed doors. Think smog-choked cities, grim frontiers, and a lot of people pretending progress doesn't have a body count. You are placed on one of these grim frontiers, by the name of Frontier Esoterica. 

What We Can Offer

A long-term world. The intention is many months, up to six, even. If you build a fort or start a settlement, it will stick around and continue to influence the map.

Dynamic off-map old world states that poke and prod the story without running it. They exist to give factions something to react to, not to overshadow anyone.

"Play to lose" mentality. We genuinely want conflicts that hurt and matter, not just one-sided stomps. Bad decisions make the best stories.

Serious RP in-game—proximity text and VC, clear IC/OOC boundaries, no drama bleeding between the two.

Mess around with a myriad of industrial technology mods such as Electrical Progressive, Vintage Kinematics, Firearms, Rusty Shell and more!

A dangerous frontier filled with beasts, horrors of the depths or a gang of cutpurses that stalked you out of town.

We believe in quality over quantity. Faction applications are moderated, so if you're leading a group, we're checking that you actually know what you're doing. This has so far ensured that faction leaders are top-notch. 

If you haven't got much experience roleplaying, don't be intimidated! Newer players are absolutely welcome too, as long as you give it your best shot and you're here to commit to a character and a world, you're welcome!

This looks promising. Pretty much goes over most things that I had an issue with over the years with several roleplay servers. Endgame is always something that needs to be planned ahead of time- and the fact that you guys have thought of that is great. On top of that; understanding that there does need to be something in the background facilitating the experience (which doesn't mean dictating as you've said, it simply means adding something to keep things going and players engaged) is amazing. I'll be joining the discord for sure and looking forward to what takes place!

I would be lying if I said I didn't see your post and agreed with/got inspired by a lot of it! We were coming to many of the same conclusions, so it was validating to see someone outside our bubble with similar concerns.

Hi there!

Big news!

Fear not, we're not dead, we've just been hard at work over the last few months developing systems and in-depth lore for our server. 

 

As I'm sure you've heard, update 1.22 of Vintage Story is fast approaching and while we are excited to get going, it seems prudent to wait for a short time to allow the game and mods to update. 

 

We will not be offering a concrete release date yet, as a lot of it is not in our hands, but we absolutely will be launching shortly after the update drops!

Additionally, I'll be doing a write-up later today about our plans for settlements/nations and factions.

We're feeling confident about our unique and cohesive experience so if you're intrigued by our concept, come see what we're cookin' in preparation for the grand opening!

Launch Date Announcement!
We're pleased to finally announce our server's grand opening is Saturday, 13 June 2026 19:00 BST - running version 1.22.3!!!

It's been a long time coming but we've got everything to a really good state. We've made our own landmarks and interesting places in our custom world, we've made our own mod tweaks, we've got lore on the way in spades.

Come join us to read the highly detailed guidebook, get stuck into the lore channel, make characters, make settlements, share ideas, and create cool things in the in-character channel while we get things just right behind the scenes!
