René de Vintageman Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 (edited) Cute windmill on a post Post mill aka Standerdmolen the oldest type of Dutch windmills. The whole mill can be turned towards the wind, standing on a post. Its defining feature is that the whole body of the mill that houses the machinery is mounted on a single central vertical post. The vertical post is supported by four quarter bars. For simple milling it seems more economical and convenient to just build a row of small windmills. I decided that I'm done with über mills on high mountains. Now with 1.22 having two mill types, I want a mill close by, no walking for hours. No speed needed, just VS patience. json download below of importing! Key 1.22 Windmill & Mechanical Updates: Large Windmill: A new, larger variant is added for higher power output. Turbulence Penalty: Placing windmills too close (within 1.5x sail diameter) creates turbulence, significantly reducing efficiency. Space them out by at least 15 blocks for maximum performance. Fire Risk: Mechanical components will smoke and eventually ignite if they rotate too fast, a system designed to prevent overpowered, "eldritch" setups. https://media.vintagestory.at/monthly_2026_06/image.thumb.png.176432e06b3d7a895f9180af96ea0679.png standerdmolen-01.json Edited June 26 by René de Vintageman File size images 21 1 2 2
Whimsical Fool Posted February 21 Report Posted February 21 Oh this is absolutely adorable, what great coloring with the different woods! 1
Kreg Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 This is such a neat design. I'm definitely building one in my multiplayer world as well. 1
Tannin Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 Oh that's so nice! I've built the same type of windmill for my little farm. In German it's called Bockwindmühle. But mine doesn't look nearly as nice, I'm not a great builder. Maybe I will try to make it look a little bit better someday. 1

Peppermint1888 Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 How do I import the file? Does it just give instructions in the guide?
René de Vintageman Posted June 24 Author Report Posted June 24 @Peppermint1888 To import a building into a new Vintage Story world, you need to place the exported file into the schematics folder of your Vintage Story data directory. Here is exactly how to do it and how to place it in your new world: Step 1: Locate the Folder Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type %appdata% and hit Enter. Open the VintagestoryData folder. Look for a folder named schematics. If it does not exist, create a new folder and name it exactly schematics. Paste your exported file (usually a .json file) into this folder. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Step 2: Import It into the New World Open your new world in Creative Mode (or ensure you have admin/developer permissions enabled). Open the chat console by pressing /. Type the following command to import the file: ./import [filename] (Replace [filename] with the exact name of your file, without the .json extension). Use the WorldEdit tool or specific placement commands (./import confirm) to permanently lock the building into your terrain. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/How_to_use_WorldEdit https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:Schematics 1
