Mod Title: Feed the Gods (?)
Mod Version: current
Commission: No

It is frequently mentioned by players that food quickly becomes an abundant resource. So to provide another use for all that excess food, as well as to add some roleplay elements, I propose a mod which lets you set up an altar, dedicate it to a god, and then offer food upon it to receive an item reward once a day. Later once they are implemented, positive status effects would be a possible reward as well.

It could be as simple as setting up an altar block (or special altar block/altar block in crafting grid to turn into modded altar block) with a golden treasure chest in front of it (so you’d need to do at least some exploring/trading for the initial setup), right click on the altar to choose a god from a list to dedicate it to, which then turns the altar+chest into a multi-block-structure. If you then put down a food item on the altar block it disappears and spawns a random item from a list in the treasure chest.

It could also be more in depth in that different gods have different food preferences and different reward pools. Let’s say Dave only likes cooked bushmeat and charred bread and gives items like metal scraps or a single gear in return (and maybe he will strike you with lightning if you offer something offensive like a pretty flower...), but the Great Bear Spirit loves honey, fruits, jams, and fruit pies and gives you, say, forageables like mushrooms, reeds, clay, etc., while the sly Fox god enjoys fruits, grains, termites, eggs, and especially trapped chickens, and gives you forageables, scrap, and maybe very rarely a jonas part or a temporal gear. If you offer a jug full of distilled alcohol to the elusive Lava Nymph, she might bless you with a quartz crystal or a chunk of crystalized ore for your collection. You get the idea. There are many possibilities!

Obviously, the rewards table and rarities could make the mod more or less op so it needs some balance, but I think it would be fun just for the role-playing aspect and creative inspiration to build temples alone.
