Playing in 1.22.0, I placed a regular cheddar wheel on the ground in a flat creative world, and the game crashed instantly. Can't open the save anymore, it crashes the second it loads. This has genuinely never happened before, and I'm confused as to what could be causing it because I can't find anyone else with the same or even a similar issue.

Here's some of the crash report, I can provide more as the error is easy to reproduce. Begging for help here, I've poured hours into the save this happened on.

Running on 64 bit Windows 10.0.26200.0 with 31848 MB RAM
Game Version: v1.22.0 (Stable)
5/5/2026 3:59:44 PM: Critical error occurred
Loaded Mods: game@1.22.0, vsimgui@1.1.12, betterruins@0.6.0, configlib@1.10.11, danatweaks@4.0.0, freedomunits@1.1.4, petai@4.0.3, stepupadvanced@1.3.0, creative@1.22.0, survival@1.22.0, zinkmodautoclay@1.0.3
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Edit: Yes I have tried running it in repair mode. It runs fine and then crashes the second I try to run it normally.

Does the issue still happen without any mods? If it does, time for a bug report on Github. If the issue doesn't happen in vanilla though, then it's most likely a mod causing the issue. If that's the case, you'll want to make sure that all your mods are appropriately updated for 1.22 or otherwise known to work correctly if an older mod(not likely due to changes 1.22 introduced). From there, it's just a matter of re-enabling mods and testing one by one to see when the issue reoccurs. Tedious, but effective.

I had to uninstall (not just toggle off) all of my mods to get it to work properly again. Removed the original cheese wheel and then made a test save (with new cheese) to figure out which mod was causing the problem. Reinstalled one-by-one and the crash never happened. I still have no idea what caused this, but it's the weirdest bug/problem I've ever experienced.
