Feffy Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 I'll get this out of the way first, before folks come in to say it. I know this is only an issue on a handful of busy servers and even then only during launch or peak hours. Regardless, it is frustrating and (I am not a programmer) feels fixable. Currently, you have to wait through the queue to connect to the server and only then will it start the mod downloads for the server. Once those downloads are finished, it puts you back to the end of the queue. I'm playing on the Whispers of Oldwood server and we just started our third season today. The queue is set to 100 (the server cap is, too, but that's not important to this issue). So, when trying to connect, you have to be able to get in queue, sit through 100 person queue (over an hour easily), and then download the mods, THEN go back to the end of the queue and sit through the whole thing again. It's insanely frustrating. Again. A lot of servers won't have this issue. This issue will only last for a few days or a couple of weeks likely and the population will even out. It will remain during peak hours for another few weeks or so. Still, I have to ask... why isn't there just a button on the gui for any given server you set up that you could just click, get info from the server, and download mods without ever getting in queue? Sure, you can download them individually yourself, but that is its own pain especially on a 100+ mod server. Anyway, like I said, it seems like a simple fix from a layman's perspective. Feel free to fill me in on any technical reasons that might prevent this. 1

I'm not sure, but they may be working towards implementing this kind of feature sometime in the near future, based on this bit from the news thread: Quote 5. New site: VS Server DB In parallel Rennorb is also working on a proper web version of the public servers list where server authors can take ownership of their servers and edit their server info in a user friendly manner. Search functions and categorization should help with server discovery, to give players a more straightforward way to find the right servers. This is likely to be released this year. That's not to say that the feature will ever be implemented either, but it seems like a reasonable thing to add to me. If things are required for entry, it's fair to know about those things in advance so that you can make sure you meet the entry requirements before finding out the hard way at the door. 1
