I feel like nobody ever talks about this but early Steam tech is on the road map and what I think they mean by that is not conveyor belts or factories It's steam engines and trains and a very slight maybe for steamboats And I really do think this game could use a little bit more industrialization 'cause I feel like there really is more for this game to experience than just a medieval survival game feel like the term medieval in this game is used a bit too often because it's Really a game where you progress for the ages of humanity and I feel like that shouldn't just stop at the Steel Age.

Well you say that but steam power wouldn't be an upgrade past the ''steel age'', steamboats would be made of steel and run on coal so it wouldn't really be an upgrade.

also you gotta consider size, how bigga boat are we talking? Is there any benefit to having a coal powered steamboat as opposed to a sailboat?

Arguably, really depends on how each individual decides to play the game

Well, the lore is primarily set into the middle ages, albeit 'middle ages +' to be specific. Falx did invent a boatload of things through his gazing into the eldritch realm of the rust dimension.
We know of steam power from the Archive already, so coal-powered mechanical power is definitely something which would fit. Same as an expansion of overall usage of mechanical power. Automation of bellows for one, more detailed options to handle metal. He plainly spoken provided the power for the industrialization to happen and lore-wise we see this to be the case.

So the setting is late middle-ages mixed with industrialization basically, and outside of 'eldritch' systems it shouldn't progress beyond that significantly, and if so then only through means acquired later on in the storyline which isn't implemented yet.

Before we think about steel engines and the likes... a simple cart would be nice to have first of all 😛 But the expansion into more mechanical contraptions is absolutely something I would enjoy to see, with automated versions like the rift ward which doesn't use up gears very fast but would allow longer-lasting measures. Overall 'Jonas machinery' would be a very loved concept to introduce, providing a natural improvement compared to the current water wheels and windmills in terms of automation, allowing a electricity-like (but not being electricity itself) concept which opens up for a large amount of potential use-cases. But we're rather far away from that still.

I do agree with you about the Steamboat It really wouldn't be that big of an upgrade to a sailboat and you're also right about the individual side But what I meant by steam power is an advancement past the overall what I mean as to steelage (medieval times) So that's what I meant by the steel age
