WyvernHammer Posted September 3 Report Posted September 3 As it says on the tin, I'm new to the game and am uploading my playthrough to youtube. I'm entirely new to video creation so the editing is really basic (and in my opinion a little trash) but I am having a blast playing the game so far, and was told I could link the video in this forum, any critique or advice is welcome! The video in question 2
Novadegree Posted September 6 Report Posted September 6 Well you get an A+ from me for two reasons: 1) Volume was perfect for me, I could hear you and the interactions in game, the music volume was also perfect, just enough to know there's music. 2) No foul language. My only advice is to keep making videos, you'll learn what works for you and your viewers. All in all a very good job for a first video. 1
WyvernHammer Posted September 9 Author Report Posted September 9 The second video is now live, I've reached the pottery age and home cooked meals are so much better than frantically nibbling mushrooms while honking to death lol. 2

You sounded like you were getting a little discouraged, multiple deaths before being able to set spawn can be a little trying to say the least. Stick with it and keep your chin up! Vintage Story is unforgiving to the new player in survival for making mistakes, the learning curve is sharp. Let's review what we learned: 1) Most animals can kill you early game. 2) Monsters really like to spawn in caves no matter how deep, it just takes a little bit of darkness (even if you see just fine). 3) Monsters don't like being stabbed in the butt. WyvernHammer Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 I have reached the copper age. Up next is smithing and alloying. 1

WyvernHammer Posted September 23 Author Report Posted September 23 The smithing mechanic is really cool, I finally experienced it after I entered the bronze age in the newest video. Still looking for a temporal gear to set my spawn closer to home. 1
Novadegree Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 That storm hit and I don't think you even noticed that bear you ran by . The bronze age is actually my favorite, you can mine most everything and you can make all the tools needed to build. You're right though, you need a smithy now. 1

Well it's really up to you on what type of smithy you want to build, my only suggestion is "plan for the future". You got the bronze, but there are bloomeries for iron, cementation furnaces for steel, you may decide you want to build a permanent charcoal pit or get into making ceramics and build a kiln. It kind of stinks to build what we think is the bestest best base ever and then find out "where am I going to put these other things I want?". Tip: Make a bunch of flint spears pointy sticks for the next temporal storm, throw them because they do more damage, and try to get that temporal gear to set your spawn. Tip 2: Don't forget about the temporal storm coming Edited Wednesday at 11:25 PM by Novadegree For WyvernHammer lol 1
WyvernHammer Posted Wednesday at 09:43 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 09:43 PM I still haven't gotten any work done on the smithy (lots of material collecting!) but I have started domestication of the most dangerous predator in the game... The Mouflon Sheep!
Novadegree Posted Wednesday at 11:24 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:24 PM @WyvernHammer I never have such an easy time moving animals, good job! The house is looking good! Now get that temporal gear! I've edited my previous post for you. 1

I think I will attempt to make a kill bunker out of chiseled blocks to hide in and stab from for the next temporal storm, I have seen a few different examples of them that seem pretty easy to build and will minimize my exposure to the beasties. Hopefully that will get me a gear or two [knock on wood].

Fingers are crossed for luck!
