Tale of Tales: SKYBOUND

Vintage Story RP | An World of Sky

There is no world below.

Only an endless sky filled with countless islands.

Some hold forests and mountains. Others villages, ruins, or things yet to be discovered.

And somewhere among them, you awaken.

You remember who you are.

You just don't remember how you got here.

Welcome to Skybound.

A Living, Evolving World

Skybound is a handcrafted RP world built to grow alongside its players.

Explore floating islands scattered throughout the sky. Discover new lands, settlements, ruins, and places hidden beyond familiar routes.

Player actions shape what comes next. Expeditions can uncover new locations. Settlements can grow. Organizations can rise and fall. Events and discoveries can permanently change the world, ever changing lore you write is added.

There will always be somewhere new to go.

Exploration & Discovery

You'll wake up in Baeloth at the base of the World Tree, What secrets it hides only time will tell.

Skybound is meant to be explored.

Lore is hidden throughout the world in journals, locations, NPCs, artifacts, and server events.

Not everything is explained.

Not everything you hear is necessarily true.

Build Your Own Story

You don't have to be an adventurer.

Become a farmer, smith, merchant, hunter, explorer, scholar, builder, or something entirely your own.

Create or join:

- Guilds
- Factions
- Orders
- Clans
- Businesses
- Settlements
- Expeditions

Politics, alliances, rivalries, trade, exploration, and conflict are shaped by the players.

RP Style

The server is focused on medium to heavy roleplay.

Character-driven storytelling with real consequences.

Freedom within a shared world.

Player stories are encouraged rather than everyone being forced into a single main storyline.

Conflict is allowed when it serves the narrative.

Major events and D&D-style adventures will also take place throughout the server.

In-Game + Discord Integration

Using Th3Essentials, Vintage Story and Discord are connected.

- Live in-game Discord channel
- Real-time server updates
- Talk with players while offline
- Optional Discord RP alongside in-game play
- Dedicated voice and text channels for RP

Need a Break From RP?

Not everything has to be serious.

We also have a build competition arena and Capture the Flag arena, with more competitions, games, and community events planned as the server grows.

You Aren't Too Late, Skybound is still growing.

The world isn't already explored.

Its settlements aren't finished.

New players aren't side characters entering someone else's story you have just as much opportunity to leave your mark on Skybound as everyone who came before you.

There are still islands nobody has reached.

Places nobody has mapped.

Stories nobody has started.

RP Mechanic Spotlight - Journals & Knowledge

As the server grows, so does its history.

We don’t want magic, machinery, or mastery to feel like something you unlock once and move on from. Knowledge should feel earned, shaped over time, and passed between characters.

Right now, the Knowledge Unlock System gives structure, but it doesn’t always show how to actually roleplay that growth.

This is where journals come in.

This system is built around writing your character’s progress into the world itself. When your character experiments, fails, adapts, and finally succeeds, that process becomes something real; something others can find, learn from, or build on.

This is how we create:

Legacy between characters

Continuity across the world

Meaningful progression that doesn’t disappear

Even if you leave ToT you will have left a lasting impact on the story and future worlds.

Each journal is made up of two types of entries:

1. Personal Chronicle Entries
These are your character’s thoughts and experiences. Doubt, fear, obsession, breakthroughs as you are going through the discovery process. This is where the story lives. What it felt like to fail. Why they kept going.

2. Process Record Entries
This is how it was actually done. Materials, steps, mistakes, adjustments. Still written in character, but clear enough that another player-character could attempt it themselves off your instruction.

Together they are the Why and How in RP and they give you a chance to have a lasting impact while interacting with others. They turn progression into something others can inherit instead of something that resets every time a new character shows up.

We genuinely want you to have a lasting part of our story.

RP Mechanic Spotlight - Knowledge Unlocks

Here’s the simple version of one of our RP mechanics and how it's meant to function on our server.

By default, your character does not start with access to things like magic, advanced smithing, or complex machinery RP wise.

If your character wants to learn something like that, it happens through RP.

Every unlock follows the same general path:

1. Exposure
Your character has to encounter it first.
See it, hear about it, find evidence of it. Something that makes it real to them.

2. Access
You then need a way to learn.
A mentor, a guild, a recovered journal, a ruin, long-term work. Something that gives you actual access.

3. Trial
You prove you can handle it.
This can be a task, a ritual, a build, a job, something that tests you. Failure is allowed.

4. Unlock
Once that’s done, staff confirm it and you’re good to use it in-game.

A few important things:

Unlocking one thing does not unlock others
Apprenticeships are real RP, mentors decide how they teach
Guilds can control access, but they don’t hard-lock you out forever
You can teach others later, but they still have to go through their own process
