 Concept & History

The Easternmost continent was the ancestral home of the Orks. It is relatively untouched by outside influences, so the tribe is homogenous. They don't like outsiders as the Orks think their way of life is the ultimate survival. The Orks are scattered in small villages around Kleptos Bay and Mt. Er'Edhtra . While the mountain tribes focused on farming their durable crops and woodworking, the hill tribes focused on smithing and hunting. Contact between the tribes was at bare minimum, until chief Farazulgur of the Kleptos tribe united the villages through conquest. The conquest was bloodthirsty as the tribes valued physical strength above all else. Near the end of the war, the Kleptos tribe were severely more rich with resources, land and knowledge than the remnants, so they swore fealty and named Farazulgur the "the first Ork" effectively giving him reign above the land and its Orks. Farazulgur had a son called Dariq. He was his heir, but Farazulgur was more emotional than most Orks. He loathed his fathers wars on the other tribes. Yet, the newly joined tribes swore fealty and they followed their new leaders orders as if they didn1t slaughter them just years before. In fact, they were hysterical in the cult of Farazulgur. They idolized him for their strength. Yet, his only son and heir didn't. He left. Escaped. Via a small raft he made. He travelled West. He met Humans for the first time. He met professors. He yearned for more knowledge as he knew more and more about the world. Technologies which seemed like magic at first. Orks hate magic and its users as they see it as weak. They deemed Dariq a traitor when he left. Farazulgur sent out Orks to look for him, but they didn't go past the first or second island they encountered. They didn't want to find Dariq, and even if they did, they'd have probably killed him anyway... Dariq knew that the Orks disowned him and his "Orkness". Farazulgur wept for his son...

Dariq gained knowledge of the world, and the world gained knowledge of the Ork tribes and the riches of the East. Explorers, scientists, and missionaries all went East, to this unknown continent to learn about the Orks and their advances. They were soon disappointed by what they discovered. The Orks were barbaric, they attacked any westerner they encountered. They knew the terrain well, and because of the Orkish wars they were battle hardened and had experience against peaceful visitors. Not long the information about the hostile continent spread around the known world. Premiers of great City states deemed the Orkish tribes as animal-like whom cannot be reasoned with. Dariq faced discrimination by the regular folk daily after this and wasn't seen much outside of the Palaces and the Universities and Technicums of the intellectuals. He was seen as the only intelligent Ork in existence by his peers and he expressed disdain for own kind so he wasn't shunned by them and could keep on learning the knowledge of this world. For he wanted one thing in life, to understand why the Orks cannot be reasoned with and disregard anything that isn't considered a physical strength.

During Farazulgurs 67th year as sovereign of Kleptos, the City States attacked the Orks. Their strategy was to isolate them around the coastal regions for they sailed ships without any excess men to coastal regions where they could be easily observed from the mountaintops. The Orks rushed into positions to defend those coasts while the City States main force landed elsewhere attacked them from the behind the defending lines. The massacre was brutal and forced the hill tribes to flee for the mountains where they could defend from their primitive watchtowers more effectively. The City States destroyed their villages without taking anything... Most items were worthless to them apart from the food and the fur. Kleptos tribe burned, all hill tribes burned. Farazulgur was blinded in one eye and had serious cuts and slashes. He realized they were inferior to them. It angered him at first, but soon he devised a plan to fortify the paths around the Mountain and set up the first bureucratic entity on the Continent. Militancy and revanchism was sky high in the Ork folk, while their egotistic way of thinking about their way of life was crushed into dust. Like they did with the animal bones they sacrificed for good harvest season...

Dariq and Farazulgur met in silence... then, out of nowhere Farazulgur, the 146 year old Sovereign stood up and embraced his son. He wept as soon as his son embraced him as well. Dariq wept. He wept for half an hour. In the back of his mind he thought that he was a dead Ork walking after he entered Kleptos bay. Farazulgur asked and asked about his life. He had to express his joy in every second thought he spoke. He looked happy, which the old Sovereign wasn1t known for. He never smiled, for he never forgot his actions. He slaughtered, conquered, united, sacrificed.. but his biggest pain in life was the loss of his only son. Dariq soon told him what was the reason for his departure from Kleptos and told his Sovereign - his father - what he saw, what he learnt, what he experienced. He saw the Glaciers of the North, he saw deserts as big Kleptos, even bigger where nothing is and everything is more deadly than a battle hardened Ork and could kill with a simple bite. He told him about the Universities and their professors of the City States, the vast libraries of which the Magistrates knew each book word for word. He told him about bureucracy, the concept of money and banking. Agricultural innovations which the Orks never could imagine thinking of. Farazulgur was silent the whole time. He was in awe not only the information he was given, but rather his son. In his mind, the Savior arrived, and it was his own son. Hours and hours of lecture given by Dariq to his father soon turned into a feast. The word spread of the joy of Farazulgur. The Ork understood. Their leader welcomed his son back, so they should too. The Ork folk - while perpetually low on food since the loss of the hill tribes huntsman - slaughtered half of their mountain goat herd for the feast of their Sovereigns joy. They were truly joyful and filled with an unknown feeling to them. They were hopeful. They wanted to be, for their Sovereign was.
