Hey Seraphs!
There are quite a few alternative launchers for Vintage Story now, so instead of making yet another launcher that launches the game, we built Waxlight.
Waxlight is a free, open-source launcher for Windows and Linux, designed around one simple idea:
Managing Vintage Story shouldn't be harder than playing it.
We want it to be the place where you manage Vintage Story itself — accounts, versions, instances, mods, updates and everything around them.
So, what does Waxlight actually do?
- Multiple Vintage Story accounts
- Multiple game versions side-by-side — no reinstalling every time you want to switch
- Fully isolated instances with their own mods and settings
- A built-in Vintage Story ModDB browser with search and filters
Install, update, enable, disable and remove mods directly from the launcher
- Playtime tracking
- Detailed launch logs, downloads and background operations
- Stable and prerelease launcher update channels with checksum verification
- A movable data directory — put your versions, instances, mods and downloads wherever you want
- UI available in English, Russian, Belarusian, Spanish, French, German, Kazakh, Polish, Swedish and Portuguese
In other words: instead of having a launcher, a browser, folders full of mods, several game installations and a collection of shortcuts held together by hope and questionable decisions… You have Waxlight.
Built with privacy in mind
Waxlight is completely open source.
Account credentials stay in your operating system's credential store.
Optional telemetry is disabled by default, and the project includes a public privacy policy, security documentation and code-signing policy.
Getting started
Add your Vintage Story account.
Install the game version you want.
Create an instance.
Add mods directly from the built-in ModDB browser.
Press Play.
It's actively developed, open to contributions, and we're nowhere near finished.
