  1. And you are absolutely sure you've provided the right IP to connect to and setup ports for the correct computer that's hosting the server? Some routers and modems, especially when in combo, will have different methods of doing it. Lastly, did you make sure the individual computers are not blocking the connection?

  2. Unfortunately, sort of cheating via creative or using an overlay mod, no. You'll need to put work into using and understanding prospecting. It's really difficult to get as a new player, but if you stick with it and start a new world in creative, give yourself a prospect and then just try it out, you'll get it.

  3. What your asking would just make it so that the devs lose money because everyone is pirating the game or they buy one copy and share it between 10+ other people. The game is like $20, it's not expensive, why not just buy copies? If your friends don't want to play for very long or there's no need for them to play more than 2hrs at your LAN party, I don't see why Vintage Story should weaken its security and risk its funding just to appease players or situations like that. If the game were more expensive, I could see the argument for a better demo or trialing basis a bit more, but not as it is.

i7-8700 and 2060. GPU bound as the other guy said. I just thought that the uplift came where it'd matter for everyone who didnt underspec CPU's

    Huh. How tf
Im running on high ish settings, on 512 aswell, and with a 2060 im getting a lot less FPSCapture.thumb.PNG.78ae1589a8b80f487331c19fa60b230d.PNG

    Here are my settings
No clue how you're getting so many frames with a card much older than mine
Maybe its the resolution? Im at 1440p

I'm on 1440p and I have the k version of that CPU. I used to play with the KO version of that GPU, too, but recently upgraded to a 3060 Ti. I get about 80-90 with some settings turned down on the old version of the game. Have you tried to turning down some of the options? Maybe that PC's CPU isn't strong enough to be pushing 1440p at stable 60fps, let alone above it, in a game like this.

Im not seeing any performance improvement. Maybe 2-3 FPS extra, tops.

With version 1.18.6-rc.1 its 62-63 FPS looking at a medium sized rockformation
With version 1.18.8 its 64-65 FPS

I was kinda expecting a bit more of an uplift

Also did you change the performance graph in the graphics menu or did my mods do that? I am not a fan

It depends on your hardware. How old is it? If it's really old, nothing is ever really going to make your system perform like it's 10x better. If its newer than say 2018, it should have helped more than that, for sure. You could try to clean re-install your drivers.

  6. Rather than encourage piracy of any scale, it would serve better to target at those "demo first" sort of people with what they actually want/need. A demo. Vintage Story has one, but it's old and doesn't represent what the game is today at all. Maybe there's a plan for another, more modern trial/demo? Perhaps a version of the game with some features restricted, or a time-restriction?

  7. If you mean like server information, mods installed etc etc, you have to copy things/back them up, yes. There's no automatic way of preserving information for a reinstall. You could try "don't delete all information" option when uninstalling (forget the exact wording, but it asks you if you want EVERYTHING gone or just the game itself), but I would play it safe and back up those folders.

its to place it in middle one block high gaps and glitch thru walls

So if you go to bottom of caves and dont feel like walking back you can just put a raft down in one block high gap and sit on it it will take you all the way up like an elevator!

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. lmao I gotta try it.

Depends on the rationale. If the idea is that a new tech should result in an improvement for the seraph (or he wouldn't bother developing it) sure. Keeping out of the water in late fall is not such a big deal in Survival, but Wilderness is another story, because your tolerance to cold is so much less.

If your rationale is realism, not so much. A long range swimmer has roughly the same average speed as a long range raft propelled by paddle. However, this is with a modern lightweight inflatable raft, not one build of logs.

I'd say it's a mix of realism and what should be fun. And at the moment, the raft isn't really justified outside of large ocean usage or skipping large lakes in the winter.

I wonder if that would be true for bears? Since they can 'climb' a taller wall than the others, I'm thinking that a 1 block spacing might not affect them. I'd be curious to know!

They will still end up climbing it, but it'll be a little more difficult, meaning that they shouldn't speed up the thing like Speedy Gonzales. It's definitely not a sure fire way of preventing them from climbing, especially since they jump like the Hulk.

  11. I've seen wolves climb a ladder, too. I guess it's more believable with a bear since they are naturally strong climbers, but it's a video game. I'd rather not have the animals climbing ladders. I've found though that spacing the ladders out by 1 block makes it much more difficult for animals and drifters to climb.

Unfortunately it's far worse, when I say tight waves of mountains I mean like this. This is really really nasty to travel through because it's too thick to mine through and too far apart to bridge past. The world is mostly wide flat areas surrounded on all sides by walls of these mountains and ravines that go for hundreds or sometimes even over 1000 blocks.

Combine these slow slogs to travel over that you can't really prospect effectively with a bear randomly punching through iron chainmail and an iron shield  in 3 hits and exploration is dead on arrival.

I hate to be a naysayer, this update is really great but this world gen imo just has to change.

Oh, that's what you meant by waves. Yes, they are way worse than the one or two giant flat sideded mountain walls. At least with those you  just have to scale/go around (or if you want to, drill through it) one of them, this this one is worse. Because on the sides of them, there are rarely any safe ways down. No dirt scaling to go down, almost never waterfalls or deep lakes y ou could drop into. But somehow, the tops are almost always overgrown in thickets and trees, so you can't see where you're going until you fall straight down several blocks.

These shattered mountains look beautiful, they remind me of the Wulingyuan mountains in China, but they appear too frequently and without any other means of quick travel or traversing giant, hazardous geographical features, their visual attraction can only take them so far. I used to primarily want to live in mountains until recently. The headache is just too much.

Now I wouldn't mind 1.18 generation beyond these points, because the new method of generating hills, mountains, etc etc looks better, but I think the priority that is taken when its hills and these mountain ranges are considerably higher than anything else. I don't think anyone would be complaining (too much) if the hills and these sorts of mountains popped up more occassionally rather than every other minute you've scaled a hill/mountain...

  13. It might be helpful if everyone experiencing the crashes run an trace on it or post some crash/error logs, if possible. Any lockups or even crashes could be caused by simple issues that become hidden by other means, such as corrupted driver installs or missing dependencies, which usually end up being something like lib32-mesa. For example, a bad/corrupted install or outdated Mesa package could cause the hangups/crashes.
