Need assistance with setting up mechanical power.
Never Jhonsen replied to Valsalan's topic in Discussion
Good question Without the top big gear, you're starting out small and going large; you will lose all speed (but gain torque), and this particular setup will not spin. Whereas, doing the windmill small -> large, followed by your equipment large -> small, it'll still be a 1:1 gear ratio, and your items will move at the same speed as the rotor -

I have a bad habit of calling the clutch a toggle Every time I say "Toggle" in my messages, assume I mean the clutch -

I've mentioned it on the forums before, but when it comes to early game wind power, here's the most basic setup you can craft to get things started Two large gears, one for the sails and one for your items. The first large gear increases torque (at the cost of speed) to send it down the power shaft. The second large gear then takes that torque and increases the speed. For one maxed out rotor, you can power all (currently) three tools at a slow but reasonable speed. The absolute bare minimal this needs is one rotor with three sets of sails (60kn), but that's not going to give you much speed to work with. Some other things to note about windmill designs: The more axles and joints you have between your sails and tools, the more torque you lose. You have a toggle to switch on your pulverizer, with some angling gears to link it to your large gear; I would suggest lowering your large gear to the ground floor, and connecting your toggle/pulverizer straight to that. -

That could be another way to get green dye Currently we have two options for green dye: Dry Grass and Lilly of the Valley. Granted. Dry grass is heavily abundant in almost all areas.

I have a Creative Mode Testing World I use for all my designs. I'll build things there, work out what I like using materials that I know I have access to in my survival world, and once I reach a satisfying design I'll screenshot it at various angles, and get to work making it on my survival world

+1 on this as someone who's lived with Oak, Maple, Pine, and Walnut trees, all 4 should be dropping WAYY more seeds than they currently are. I clean parking lots for a living. One of them has some Oak trees. And here in the northern hemisphere is that time where they drop all their seeds (and leaves). The parking spots are filled with acorns. I do my job of cleaning up hundreds of them, and the next day there's hundreds more right in the same spot When I was single digits old, I lived in a place with some maples. And every fall me and my friends would grab handfuls of maple seeds, climb to the top of the slide, and throw them as far as we can. Thankfully, this game has gotten the maple seed physics correct; in game they do flutter down so gracefully. And when I was a teenager living somewhere else, there were always plenty of pine cones in the area to surprise throw at my friends (I never said I was a good kid ) Anyways, tree seed drop is very much unbalanced, and I'd like it to be a bit more realistic. Also, adding nuts to cooked meals sounds awesome Would that be a fruit nutrient?

The first thoughts when I picked up a chisel in-game was "Oh wow! Finally . .. I could make so many things now! Better windows, cooler door frames, cute little statues, why, I could even make- " Then a cartoonish evil grin slowly spread across my face, as I grabbed some oak planks and made my first chiseled sculpture Rule 5 of the forum rules states: My first ever chiseled creation tragically falls in with Rule 5, so this is where I will end this conversation My friends all loved it tho, and we hung it on the wall in our house above the fireplace for the rest of that playthrough. I haven't touched that world since 1.16; I wonder if I can load it in 1.21

I have had this happen so many times nothing more insulting than returning from a 2k trip with a skep in your inventory and stumbling upon a hive only 100 meters from home

Automation issue - any way to prevent lazy hoppers?
Never Jhonsen replied to Jacsmac's topic in Questions
Something I've always done, was make a "chute" out of a chiseled block. Place a full block on top of your hopper, and hollow out the entire inside, leaving one chisel voxel around the whole perimeter. (I'm specifying a CHISEL voxel, as one chisel voxel is 8 actual voxels (2x2 cube)) In front of your pulverizer, at the output, place a full block, and chisel it out into a "C" shape; three thin walls one chisel voxel wide, no top or bottom, with the open side against the pulverizer. I've been using this for years, and my unscientific tests conclude this stops all mis-thrown items Edit: My preferred block of choice, is Bauxite Rock, as it's close enough to a copper texture to blend in, without using 12 (TWELVE!!) copper ingots to make an actual copper block -
Hell yeah, a classic stable of human culture Even love that you named it as well This is nothing compared to the first thing I ever made with a Vintage Story chisel

Firstly, the wide variety isn't a "you can eat ALLL these meals" as much as it is "hey you have a seemingly endless list of options to cook what little food you've gathered" Sure, putting an onion and a turnip into a pot with no water and calling that a "meal" sounds horrendous. Butif that's all you've got, then food is food and the game allows you to do that. And I'd say there's plenty of reason to make all sorts of the various foods in the game Usually by the time I'm ready to settle down, I've got a few various grains and vegetable seeds to plant, meaning that once they grow, I'm going to have a few various grains and vegetables to mix together for meals. Maybe I'll make bread and veggie stew. Maybe I'll make some porridge with a hefty amount of vegetable. Maybe I'll make Veggie Pies. Or, typically what I do, is all of the above. I'll make pies fresh after harvest, to eat now; burn bread for winter grain; and the stews, soups, and porridges to store in crocs for later (albeit I rarely make soups).

Main story structures location/advice (no spoilers)
Never Jhonsen replied to SweetTrip's topic in Questions
Unfortunately, yes they're centered around world spawn. There are commands for generating them, but I don't know what would happen if you spawned in copies of all the story content into a world; would the game take you to the closer one, or would it default to the game's original location for it.
