  1. i looked on the database, but couldn't find anything that changed the flight mechanics
    if anyone could do this, i would super appreciate it 🥺
    i think it would be much more intuitive if  wasd controlled only the x/z, while shift and space did y (y'know, like "that other block game")

    i generally don't play in creative much, but i decided i want to build bigger structures, so figured i should experiment in creative before building them in survival and... wow, is the flying ever cumbersome!
    maybe i should "just get used to it" but i find it really awkward that i need to look away from what i'm doing, back up a bit, look back to place a block, look away, back up, look again, place block, etc
    or am i missing something? how does one move forward or backward while looking straight up or down?

  2. i'm going to post this here even tho i don't know that it's particularly "humorous" but i don't really think it needs its own thread, especially since i'm not one to remember to take screenshots

    anyway, yesterday as i was heading out to collect some peat, i saw smoke
    uh oh, lightning caused a forest fire
    i'm only one person barely entering my copper age, but i quickly set about seeing what i can do to mitigate the damage
    i grabbed a bucket and watering can, as well as a couple of useless flint axes
    after a bit, the fire wore itself out, but to the south there was more smoke, and lots of it; there was a lot more forest there for a hungry fire to gobble up
    i like having fire spread and lightning fire on for realism, and even tho it was quickly becoming "too real" i was hesitant to turn it off
    however, my game had been stuttering a bit here and there, and it was progressively getting worse
    i even prayed to whatever eldritch god might grant some rain, as there was lightning but it didn't seem to be raining (i used a command), but that didn't seem to work
    my slapping at leaves wasn't really helping much, and i certainly couldn't chop a tree before it turned to ash, let alone enough to prevent the spread

    just as i was about to turn fire spread off, the game crashed
    i managed to get back in and turn it off, but it continued to chug even after the fire was out, so i turned off a few mods (one had been throwing some errors i was ignoring), including realistic smoke
    so a pretty good sized chunk of my forest is now a clearing
    the silver lining is that i was able to go around collecting meat and hides, which i had been sorely lacking
    my main source of protein is fish, and i'm still using reed baskets for inventory... even with creatures set to never hostile, i don't want to try fighting them...

    after the fire, it started raining, long and hard 🙄
    i kept trying various weather commands in an attempt to get it to stop, but it really wanted to rain for five days
    i went into creative so i could fly around to look at the clouds and they're huuuuge
    even adding a weather mod didn't stop the rain, but i think there's only one day left

    if only i thought to take screenshots because it was a scary sight
    i stayed up all night trying to take care of the fire, and i use the sleep need mod, so my character was really worn out after that
    i'm considering turning spread back on, but maybe leaving realistic smoke disabled if that was the main issue

  3. i came across a ruin with beds i would love to use, but of course they're just decorative clutter
    so after a short search, i found this mod, but i don't want to have to make the beds myself
    someone did comment to say they had edited the recipes to take the clutter item, but since they didn't post that, i'm trying to do it myself
    however, i can't figure out how to get the code i need because clutter is all just one thing somehow
    how would one go about using a clutter item in a recipe?
    something like this example command from the wiki?

    /giveblock clutter{type: "barrel-metal1"}

    i'm stumped 😣
    maybe it's something obvious, but i don't code

    edit:
    for example, like this?

    {
    	"ingredientPattern": "B",
       	"ingredients": {
       	"B": {
    		"type": "block",
    		"code": "game:clutter{type:'bed-short-old'}",
    		"quantity": 1
    		},
       	},
       	"width": 1,
       	"height": 1,
       	"output": {
    		"type": "block",
    		"code": "liberatedbeds:bedshortopengreen-bedshortopengreen-head-north",
    		"quantity": 1
    		}
    }

    i've tried a bunch of things and at this point i don't want to keep zipping it and reopening the game just to find out it's wrong, lolllll

    Check if you have any mouse software that might be polling your mouse hardware incessantly.

    thank you~!
    i haven't played vintage story in years... 😩 tho not for a lack of wanting
    i'm trying to get back to it, but i was having stuttering
    my desktop never had any problems, but maybe it doesn't have nvidia
    i thought my laptop also didn't, but apparently it does, so i fiddled with the settings and it did improve, but there was still the odd stutter here and there
    after seeing this post, i checked my mouse drivers and there were three, so i got rid of one (the other two had the same name and i didn't know which i would need to keep), and i haven't had another stutter since in the several hours i played today 🥳

    this bodes well for adding more mods, tho i know wildcraft unfortunately has memory leak issues...

  5. it sounds like alt is a quick way of switching between mouse modes, but i find it awkward to hold
    you can move
    i tend to leave containers open and just walk away, letting them close on their own when i get far enough
