As others have mentioned already, although the newer logo improves in many aspects is a downgrade in others.
To start with, the new logo is an improvemetn over the old one, which has clearly aged over time and the new artstyle does give it a fresher look. I think going with thicker outlines should be the way forward.
However, I have a few concerns from both a design perspective and the message the logo conveys.
First and foremost the biggest downgrade is legibility, especially of the text. It is now overlayered with other elements of the logo making it harder to read. The text should be readable even as a silhouette, as others have pointed out already.
Secondly the focus right now is unclear, with no clear point of where to look at first, as it is too overly detailed - something that will probably not be appreciated as much when glancing at it not zoomed in - a more compated version with fewer details would leave a much greater impact and be more memorable. Think of other game franchises logos - Half Life, Minecraft, Portal, Factorio - they manage to convey their game in much simpler visual language. I think @Setej 's approach with a clock in a tree probably manages this best.
From a narrative standpoint, what i think works really well with the old logo, is that it translates the game mechanics much more clearly into its design. If someone unfamiliar with the game saw it they would see nature, that is being infected from shadowy mechanics that lurk behind the natural veil of the world, a metal arm piercing from the ground into a tree leaving a visual wound. Meanwhile in the new one you see nature heavily intertwined with machines, but not the corrupting nature of them. It seems way more harmonious and coexistant and the shadowy effect is completly gone. Not knowing anything about the game i would expect something about making nature and machinery working together instead of machinery infecting and corrupting it.
To conclude, i support the move toward a new logo, but i would stronlgy reccomend to reconsider a few of your design decisions. The current iteration wouldnt capture the identity of this beautiful game and do it justice the way it deserves.
