  1. I see.  So the desire is to amp up the effects already in place, cause the body temperature to be lowered quicker, make walking on snow increasingly harder (snowshoes?)?

I know that in early game (first game year usually), its more an issue with cloths in disrepair.  Reaching the point where fur and wool clothing in best repair can be obtained, then pretty much nullifies the debuffs.

When creating a map, never took a close look to see if some of those parameters were adjustable, ie make clothing wear out sooner, or the winter elements harsher....

  2. no surprise, it is in the game to a degree (bad pun sorry)

clothing has a warmth value (not armor), and adds together.

the player can also become soaking wet from swimming that further affect the cold condition

walking on snow covered ground also hinders travel

  3. It seemed to me that the rate of respawn (sheep, boar) was on the low side(?)  Leading to an area being played out.  Causing an ever increasing field/range to wander for new game/food?

And the idea in part to farming is to localize the food resource ease, freeing up player time to be spent on things like building what ever?

I have played as a wandering nomad, hunting along the way as I made my way more south (where its warm and I can continue to grow crops/farm).  In that posture, hunting appeared to be unlimited...

guess it depends a bit on anchoring in a single spot, depleting resources?

  4. Visited the test server out of curiosity and quickly realized the map appears to be big (i say appears, since it would take like forever to explore).  Found a build near spawn that had a qr code pointing to map of discovered and linked translocators....

    A few questions....

How big is the test map, are there world boarders at the end of each carnal direction going how far out?

Are there still unexplored areas on the map, how are new things that come with each version of the game added to the exiting map?

  5. I tend to find higher education taking some of the fun out of a healthy interest.  That said, a number of colleges do offer courses and...

a quick google on game design internships: 30 Game Design Internship jobs available in New York, NY on Indeed.  Apply to Student Intern, Summer Intern, Intern and more!

with all the social media/sigs (good/bad) out there network up maybe

    gl :)

  6. Usually with limestone (and chalk) they are a top layer.  My method is to pack up enough food for an extend expedition and travel more or less a straight line in one of the cardinal directions a few thousand blocks... repeating the walk in each cardinal direction until finding...  I'm checking the map for signs of white sands with hopes its not more granite...

    :)

  7. a few observations i've had are mobs can jump on other mobs elevating them slightly higher that will then allow scaling over a wall.  mobs can jump from an elevated rise to bridge a gap that they would normally fall into or not cross.  mobs seem to gain a higher jump at a run than from a stand still....

In the Wiki, check out Cinematic Camera, it might have the information you need. Best of luck n Game on!

Oh!  for some reason I missed that ability, this is great. thank you for the point!

Sadly though, it seems it requires the player to enter creative or spectator mode to activate. (which I'm trying to avoid) And I'm most interested in getting screenshots on the fly from various angles, without loosing my current player position.

Guess this is the best I can hope for at this time :)

  9. I understand I can change gamemodes and position myself where I might want to get the visual camera angle needed.  Still, it would be nice to have a freecam ability where the player remains anchored while I get the angled camera view desired.

Does this exist, or possibly being worked on as a mod?
