yes, we are following the wiki. i thought it'd have a error message if the port forwarding was required

so me and my friend have been trying to set up a game where the two fo us could play together via opening a lan game to internet but it says the connection failed to respond in time, am i setting this up wrong or is it just a problem with our networks?
