  1. Hey everyone, just wanted to highlight we reached 10 concurrent players, that's great! I thought it was worth post an update here to let you know the server is still active and going well for now, thanks.
  2. Hey all, if you would like to I am running a server and the people are really nice there so please feel free to join, we would be happy to have you!
  3. Hey everyone, the server has been updated to v1.20.1 stable.
  4. I tried this in v.1.19.8 and it no longer works, it now has a validation because apparently going back in time can break parts of the game. ./server.sh command "/time add -100" VintagestoryServer.dll process found ... executing command 16.1.2025 16:43:38 [Notification] Handling Console Command /time add -100 16.1.2025 16:43:38 [Notification] Only positive values are allowed
  5. We now have 6 players! Thanks all
  6. Hello everyone, I run a server and was wondering if someone who's knowledgeable about world generation and the server technology could help me with a query. What is the most idiomatic way to persist a world between updates but get the new content generated in it? The reason I ask is that players spent a long time sometimes in their creations and most of them would like to keep them as part of their progression in the game. Are there reasonable steps to avoid a wipe that scales well when there's a lot of buildings? What I found so far: I have read that between major world generation updates some content may not be generated in the world such as ruins and cave content. Additionally, there are some blocks that simply can break, which it seems some commands can be run to fix this, according to the Vintage Story Wiki. but it doesn't currently seem to be up to date. However, I found that there are some commands that can be run to regenerate entire chunks with a threshold to control how much player alteration can a chunk have in order to be removed. There's a great read on this on a community Reddit post. Finally a user (Zaldaryon, The First Clockmaker) on the Vintage Story Discord said there's a World Edit tool and that creations need to be kept manually (perhaps only if there's a server wipe) but honestly, this is the worst option in my opinion, it can be a lot of work to maintain this: Plenty of leads here but would be great to reach a method a bit more conclusive, if anyone has more resources and knows if this is reliable please let me know. I will attempt to update the world when I have a spare minute and test things, when I do I'll share my findings here. What about mods working from version to version? The server I run is vanilla with the exception of the live map mod. However, I do see that a lot of servers are heavily modded and what I found about updates to the game with mods is that, understandably, it can take a while for the mod to be updated and if it's no longer maintained it has to be removed to play new versions of the game. A discussion on this can be found here: Thank you very much in advance!
  7. Thanks, hope you like it so far, hopefully as it remains open more players will join.
  8. Hello everyone, I would like to invite anyone looking for a server to play at to join us at The Base Camp server. It's a large world with continents with mountains, deserts and lush forests to explore and settle with oceans in between. We welcome new and experienced players and you can either play solo or collaborate with someone to create a town and or share resources. A few rules Be respectful and have fun Generally it's expected that players maintain a respectful demeanor with others when playing both as actions in game as well as chat communications. We tend to let players be with minimal moderator action, however, there are a few guidelines players need to be aware when joining: Experienced players are encouraged to help newcomers by offering guidance and support. This mentorship can significantly enhance the gaming experience for less experienced players. Avoid spam in chat, if you feel like you have something to discuss that clutters the global chat please create a group or a long conversation with only one other player please consider creating a group for it. Respecting Others' Bases: Avoiding unnecessary destruction of other players' structures or farms, even during conflicts. Promoting an inclusive atmosphere where all players feel welcome is essential. This includes standing against harassment and ensuring that all voices are heard and respected, regardless of gender, race, or experience level. Any kind of harassment won't be tolerated and it will lead to a ban. Avoiding Spawn Killing: Refraining from repeatedly attacking new or re-spawning players near spawn points. Respectful Conflict Resolution: Addressing disagreements through civil discussion rather than immediate aggression. Cleaning Up: Removing temporary structures or markers after use to keep the game world tidy. Moderate destructive actions: Players are free to build, and landscape the world but please be mindful of other players when taking certain destructive actions, e.g. the use of explosives and controlled fires. Is PvP allowed? PvP is allowed, but it does not happen usually on this server because the community is generaly supportive and welcoming but it's worth outlining a few rules if someone does engage in a conflict with another player. It is encouraged to let the players you intend to attack know beforehand, a bit like a declaration of war. You may take the items the player drops upon death, but you may not take items from their base. A mod might discourage it if: - A player or group of players keeps targeting a player repeatedly, keeping it from playing the game entirely. - PvP is being used as a form of griefing. In practice, PvP does not happen in the server, everyone is usually helpful and colaboratively. These rules are here for players that might want to solve feuds between them No griefing or cheating No judgement if you are a fan of destruction or settling in a world of chaos but this is not the server for it. We do not allow it and players caught griefing or using any kind of cheats/exploits will be permanently banned. We see griefing as a form of disruptive behavior where players intentionally annoy, harass, or sabotage others within a multiplayer gaming environment. This also includes vandalism, such as destroying structures built by others, steal resources, or kill animals that players have tamed. It also includes obstruction, where players may place obstacles that impede others' movements or actions, effectively blocking paths and making it difficult for others to progress. Finally, abuse of controlled or uncontrolled fires and explosives can also be considered griefing, please use these only when necessary and unavoidable. Thank you for reading the rules, I'm sure these will evolve and change as we go but hopefully it gives you an overview of what this server is about. Join the server Currently the server is only available to players that are in the allowed list. To join the server please join the Discord below and let us know you would like to join and please provide your username. Server address: 104.248.166.50 Live Map: http://104.248.166.50:20245/basic/2/3/2/ Cartography Map: http://104.248.166.50:5500/?x=1544&y=-981&zoom=9 Discord: https://discord.gg/aGxm4yevDY Thank you, I look forward to welcome more fellow players into the server. Additional notes Additionally, the server is running a vanilla game (no mods installed) and PvP is enabled and allowed as long as there's no repeated targeting towards a player. The world is 8 mil x 8 mil blocks with Landcover to 50% and Landcover scale to 200% with a 30% Upheaval rate and polar-equator 100k. It also has some additional settings due to being a large world, for example setting a spawn is set to 30 uses instead of 20. The reason there's a Discord is because we would like to add players that actually want to play the game rather than destroy the whole map and keep others from enjoying the game, we would rather keep the server open to anyone but unfortunately there can be a few problematic players on occasion.
