Some things are in the release notes multiple times.

Oh, I see now, they don't despawn until we get a decent distance away from them. I hadn't noticed that before.

I don't know if it's related to the update, but we just had a temporal storm that dropped dozens of bow torn around and in our house. It wouldn't surprise me if it was over 100. No other creature types. Obviously, did not survive. They take a fair while to despawn as well. And lag inducing.
