You probably could code a machine learning bot to play the game like that, but unsure of it's against the TOS (as it would be basically highly advanced botting).

You can with Chisel Tools and "decorative" range of items. You can even make custom doors.

It would make configuring the game easier for the end user. It would work by monitoring current FPS and if it falls below certain value (target FPS), it would turn down (and eventually off) most demanding settings (like shadows, FXAA, SSAO, Bloom, etc.) and if all else fails, it would decrease view distance. But if the current FPS is well above the target FPS (e.g. by 20 frames or more) it will turn the quality back up slowly to the levels set in settings.

Can't launch VSMC on Linux
JAGIELSKI replied to JAGIELSKI's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
java -jar vsmodelcreator.jar sty 02, 2025 10:21:52 PM java.util.prefs.FileSystemPreferences$1 run INFO: Created user preferences directory. Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-lookup.c: 106: check_match: Assertion `version->filename == NULL || ! _dl_name_match_p (version->filename, map)' failed! Still not running, but now there's a different error. Completely forgot about the -jar parameter though. Been a while since I had to load Java programs from command line. -

Stored Foods randomly spoiling way before the estimated dates
JAGIELSKI replied to Locklear's topic in Discussion
Are you sure that the game recognizes that place as a cellar? Had seen this happening to one of the youtubers I watch, turned out the cellar wasn't actually a cellar due to wrong type of doors (or chiseled blocks, not sure as it was quite a while ago). -
Gifting the game to large creators would be prudent
JAGIELSKI replied to JAGIELSKI's topic in Discussion
I have to disagree with you. If Pewdiepie didn't play several games, they wouldn't be as popular as they are. Pewdiepie and Markiplier made FNAF popular - I have no doubts that without them it wouldn't be such a juggernaut it turned out to be (for better or worse). Another example. Amඞng Us would probably rot in obscurity, had it not been discovered by several large content creators. It was released YEARS before it was made a popular thing to play. And giving free keys to content creators is basically how its done in the indie space. You can't change that anymore you can change the mind of a bear currently mauling you. -
Can't believe this isn't already a thing. Right now, most mods either require you to load a world to configure them in the settings (especially if they add new keybinds) or have their homegrown configuration windows (often under some arcane key combination). How about adding an option for a mod to define a configuration GUI that would be accessible from the main menu (either via the mod sub window or from the settings)?

Gifting the game to large creators would be prudent

Then they'll never play it. Ever heard about that thing called "marketing"? But that's precisely the point: More people buying the game = more funds to develop it faster and better. And nobody will buy it after seeing a negative video. Especially from a big creator. -

Most people won't take the issues you've mentioned into account. They're going to be like "Oh, X played it on their channel, so it must be good. Better get it too!" and then proceed to getting the game. Also, I'd say that the game is pretty good at teaching you stuff (the handbook), much better than Minecraft is. The little jank that is in it is understandable and early MC versions were even jankier. As long as there is no constant crash/data corruption bugs unrelated to some badly done mod (and to my knowledge, there are none), it will get a pass, especially since it's a small indie team. Game is plenty fun as it is now, even if you remove lore bits (or ignore them). I got pretty smol brain and even I can play the game well. -
People like Vinesauce (Joel or Vinny, doesn't really matter), Markiplier, other big gaming creators/streamers, and yes, even Pewdiepie (if you can manage to get him to play it). Reason being that right now VS has a visibility problem, with many people simply not knowing the game exists and had it not been for a Minecraft content creator I tend to watch making a video about VS that landed in my recommended feed on Youtube, I wouldn't know the game exists either (despite the fact that I really enjoy it now that I know about it and may in fact be developing an addiction). Mods, if this is more appropriate for Suggestions board, please move it there, just posted in a generic discussion area in case Suggestions is meant for game suggestions only.

I think downloading should be possible even without logging in, considering you need an account with the game purchased/redeemed to play the game anyway.

Including stuff like multiplayer, all single player worlds, or even chilling in the main menu. Reason being that I want to know how much of my life I've wasted so far.

When you consider the 1.20, it's very useful considering you need powdered flint to craft fire clay.
-
Talking about something like this: It would only be able to grind one item at a time (not stack, a singular item), would be fully manual and would be much slower even than a manual quern, but it would be a nice, realistic, lower-tier quern you can get early game (from boards) to get bare minimum of flour or flint powder for fire clay.

I think it would be best to contact support. Either via the contact us button under the message or via a support ticket. -
Actually my youtube series is set to be on 30 days per month. Not sure how much it will take. I will definitely need to get some wheat and bread production set up.

Prospecting is tedious and ruins the game for me. {Help!}
JAGIELSKI replied to Danny97's topic in Discussion
Wasn't there a mod that highlighted chunks you've prospected on the map and let you see the material composition of them? //edit: Found it. -
Preferably one with regular terrain instead of super flat so I don't have to build every little hill from scratch also obviously it would need anti-griefer protection. Anyone can recommend a good server like that?

Setting mod development environment on Linux?
JAGIELSKI replied to JAGIELSKI's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
Any help? I really want to start coding stuff. -
It's a big suggestion that would require rewriting multiple systems, including world generation, but IMO it would be worth it as it would allow the following: World infinite in any direction (in the same sense the other cube game or Blockscape is "infinite", i.e. the limit would be maximum value of numeric data structures) Better performance as the game would only need to render 32x32x32 chunks around player instead of entire 32x32x256 (or 32x32x512) strips More interesting gameplay possibilities (imagine a huge tower that goes high into the sky, seemingly infinitely, and is filled with treasures, but also angry drifters and the challenge is to see how high you can get before it's too much for you, kinda like in a roguelike) Better world generation (basically you could put a Mount Everest in 1:1 scale in the game or even use real world geodata) Again, it would be a huge core change so I don't expect it any time soon (if ever), but it would make the game so much better and further separate it from the other block survival game. As for storage, the solution is simple: Save to disk only chunks that have been modified (block added/deleted) by the player, everything else is regenerated from the seed as if player seen that thing for the first time.
