"Is a saved game upload helpful?" Personally, yes. I've done that several times on Minecraft Java. The only issue I have with that is if it is considered by the community as a cheat or not. In which case, the answer is it depends on the player.

How would I know if I got the latest update or version? I mean other than through here. Say, from the game itself (just like how Minecraft does it). Thank you!
