  1. I've never been so happy and so irked to see a feature all at once. On one hand, berry bushes are receiving a long overdue rework that alleviates resource hogs in multiplayer servers. I seriously enjoy that people can propagate bushes and still allow passing players to get a road snack or two. They're also receiving a certain complexity that seems rather fitting for a perennial food generator. (I particularly enjoy the unique traits, and I think selectively breeding a berry orchard could feel very rewarding) ON THE OTHER HAND... it seems excessive and annoying to tack on the nutrient stuff. If it was only an optional boost to up the yields then sure. However, you've got to babysit those berries, otherwise your yields will drop. Doing this for 4-8 bushes isn't that crazy, but when you want to put together an actual berry orchard then the headache starts to come on. This becomes especially egregious once you get any sort of actual farming going though, because berries get eclipsed by just about any other food source. Berries are just not worth the effort, which is why it's not uncommon for people to just use them for compost. Even before the bush rework this was the case. So if anything was to be done about berry bushes as they are now, they could go without the punishing nutrient stuff. As well as making long term options for berries a more viable food solution. Dried berries, longer lasting jam, etc. Personally I think wine shouldn't spoil and should receive a hefty sustenance bonus for every year it has aged. (With a logarithmic falloff of course) That way having wine in storage no longer seems like a burden, and feels more like an ace in the hole when a particularly nasty winter comes along. It could even act as a valuable resource! Something worth offering to the traders for a hefty sum. Berries aren't worth the work currently, and just seem especially tedious given the returns. Otherwise, I quite enjoy the changes.
  2. I think the fishing at its current state is just kind of free food. Sticks, vines, and a knife is all you need to be set for food. With that said, you're spending a lot of precious time sitting around twiddling your thumbs. Time you could be spending looking for copper, building shelter, etc etc. Also I think it sort of fills the early game food deficit you have from the big berry nerfs. I think the fishing as it is could be dialed back just a bit, also there should be something to the fishing. Any sort of substance, so long as it's not incredibly tedious. Some sort of rod interaction where the puny fish are easy to yoink, but the bigger fish require some fight. I think being able to get an adult sturgeon with the same amount of effort it took me to get a juvenile walleye(none) is a little silly. Having varying effort required for the different fish would probably feel more rewarding. Also having a later game option for fishing would be cool. Nets, trot lines, traps, better rods, any of them really. Also I think the taxidermy fish are really really cool, I'm excited to set up a fishing hut with a wall of them sometime soon. TL;DR : I think the berry bushes received all of the tedium that the fishing probably should have had. Fishing could stand to require a little more effort, but I'm still enjoying it as it is right now.
