Check around the peaks of the mountains in the surrounding area and check for holes in them. Mark down which don't have the entrance, and eventually, you'll find it.

There should be bonuses for using different wood types as a handle.
Example: sticks have a base durability multiplier of 1x, but you can carve and dry a oak or walnut handle for a 1.5x bonus. A pine handle would be worse, 0.9x multiplier, as it is a soft wood.
Having Keepinventory enabled is perfectly reasonable with how much grinding is required to progress in this game, as losing a set of armor and bags is devastating until lategame.

It would be very convenient to create presets of mods you use for specific purposes (What you use on a specific server vs what you use on singleplayer vs what you use for another server) similar to what Project Zomboid has added in B42
