  1. Can you really use leaded glass panes in a greenhouse?

    Wolf world

I realize I may have settled in a wolf chunk, but I feel like I spend half of my gameplay trying to control the wolf population. It looks like they spawn in larger groups consistently (~4 adults and ~3-7 pups), which I think makes sense and is good, but they seem to respawn way too quickly. Is this just me? Or is the wolf respawn rate crazy now?

    Bears

I just wanted to say that I LOVE the bears. I love the way they look, killing them feels like a real accomplishment, I love that they menace my livestock. There's nothing more chilling than poking around in a new area and unexpectedly hearing their bear noises. And the way they stand up on their hind legs? Perfect, adorable, almost makes me feel bad about trying to kill them. Bears, 100% A+, my new favorite creature!
  4. Is anyone else just not able to load the game after saving (endless load screen but the save file still indicates time is passing in-game)? I strongly suspect it's because my computer is ancient (seems to fit requirements but _is_ old), but it's still upsetting. Is anyone else having this issue, or should I just assume it's 100% my machine and screech like a feral creature before flinging my computer against a wall?
  5. I had 10L of cranberry wine, which I distilled to 3.57 L cranberry brandy. When I used a jug on the bucket of brandy, it turned into 0.57 L cranberry brandy and 3L cranberry juice. Not sure why.
  6. I came here to post this. I am currently spending a night inside a block while my health regenerates because I was knocked into a block by drifters. It's definitely saving my life right now, but I know it shouldn't be happening.
  7. Do ceramic blocks protect better? It's currently different types of cobblestone blocks. I added a torch in a holder, and while I haven't had any additional spawns, it still plays cave music.
  8. Thanks! I'll add more lanterns when my bees allow, hopefully that'll help!
  9. I have a standard cellar (7×7×4, all bricks cobblestone) with one door as an entry, lit by an unlined copper lantern on the ceiling. It is underneath my house. When I go in it, spooky cave music starts playing, and I have had a drifter spawn in it when temporal activity was medium. The cellar is directly under my storage room, my basement's basement. Is it simply too deep? I thought maybe the fact that the staircase down to it strays outside the house footprint underground might be the issue, but when I isolated the cellar from the staircase and just dropped a ladder down from the floor above, I still got the cave music. Any suggestions, or do I simply have a haunted basement?
  10. Basically what it says. I break a block, the block disappears. It doesn't show up on the ground or in my inventory. Let me know whatever additional info is needed
  11. I don't know for sure, but I have to imagine that it's something that will be fixed in the future, it makes cassava too powerful
  12. This is almost exactly what I'm hoping to do! Thanks!
  13. Basements are a challenge for me too. I am pretty sure slabs are not ok (slabs seem to be a problem frequently). I did have a natural stone (like the stone that naturally occurred) floor in a basement and when I replaced together floor with cobblestone it was noticably better, preservation-wise. I'm currently struggling with a sub-basement cellar that I can get spoilage rates as low as I'd like, despite the fact that the roof is 2 layers of stone, all the walls are matching whole stone blocks, and there are multiple doors blocking any natural light source. The game can be confusing.
  14. Is it ok for a greenhouse to have 2 doors? I want to make a greenhouse with a single door at opposite ends, but I'm not sure if that will break it.
  15. Two possible candidates- I'm not sure if stairs count as solid blocks, and I've had issues when a slab isn't touching full blocks. It looks like your top level is a layer of slabs only, I think that's what is doing it. Which is a pity, because this looks really nice!

    Cool ruin

I just took a picture of the map because that's how it's easiest to view- I found a cool granite stone ancient ruin. It had a large standing circle with some radiating lines streaming behind it. I think it's probably my favorite one I've found so far.
  17. I don't think I'm fully arctic because I have chickens and the glacier ice is up on mountains, but thank you a lot, I was starting to worry about the logistics of keeping my sheep fed and from blinking out of existence.
  18. I just thought of this potential problem- I understand animals will despawn if left in the dark - do I need to light up my animal enclosures in winter to keep them?

    Snow Depth

I'm sure the answer is, "it depends," but how deep will snow fall? Can it fall deeper than 1 block high?
  20. I'm tired of throwing mountains of grain at my chickens- how specifically do I keep them broody? Their weight is good, they've eaten a pile of grain, should I just leave them alone? I built their enclosure pretty far from the rest of my stuff? Should I just back off and trust the process?
  21. Hi! My personal technique for getting enough copper for the firstpickaxe, or for when I find a mineral but I don't have my pickaxe (or one that's not the right strength) is this: 1-pick up any and all nuggets. 2-mark on the map (zoomed in) where you found the mineral. 3- dig a hole as deep as you can on the square where a nugget was laying. The random pit is much easier to find when you come back. You can make a planning tray with a single log and your knife to pan for the remainder. Sand or gravel is better here than bony soil. Gather lots of cattails/papyrus to make hand and ground baskets- a full inventory is the worst feeling!! I'd also reccomend getting clay working going as early as possible- a cooking pot or two and at least 1 bowl let you make much more filling meals, and it takes a while for clay creations to be fired. Everyone else has made great suggestions, too.
  22. Well, I wanted to mix it up and play differently! The night sky is always beautiful, I'm really looking forward to those aurora. I guess worst case scenario, I can always run south if it turns out to be too much.
  23. Sorry, nothing special here, I just wanted to say that I think the new spinning maple seeds are great and they make me happy every time I see them.
  24. I'm playing in a a cool climate for the first time. I had to haul myself a few thousand blocks south to find seeds, and I am loving these long summer days that never get dark enough to spawn the usual horde of drifters all night long- but I had a dreadful thought. Surely, winter will be the reverse? Endless nights that never get light enough to allow drifters to despawn?
  25. That's exactly right, with dirt blocks the buff did appear eventually. Guess I'd better hurry up and get that anvil made!
