  1. I couldn't even believe it. And it took 4-5 spear hits straight to the face. I actually had to look up the statistic for human deaths caused by foxes and couldn't find a single one. I can look past the awful typos still in the game even though I purchased it two years ago and have kept it on the shelf since just hoping it would see some goodness but honestly that really took the wind out of my sail and I'm going to have to uninstall. There are humans that have killed sharks in Australia with just their legs, there was a story about a man who killed a lion with his bare hands in Africa. The human can survive three weeks without food, but only 1 day in Vintage Story. Food decomposes twice as fast as it does in real life and half of the actual recipes are weirdly tied behind tech progression when we've been making most of them out of stone and clay without metal tools for hundreds of years. The lack of items like traps and other things used to hunt or to defend oneself against prey aren't in the game either despite the overwhelming amount of danger lurking around every corner. Wildlife are not super saiyan. A lot of things are forgive-able but there comes a point where "uncompromising" becomes blatant tedium for the sake of it. I really thought this game was trying to be pseudo-realistic but now I realize it's far more fantasy than I would have liked. And to be honest it's kind of a slap in the face when you add "butterfly collection" to a game that clearly takes itself too seriously. Sorry if this post upsets anyone but it'll be my last for sure. I'm definitely done. This game has a very niche calling and I'm not one of those who can be lulled into it anymore it seems. I wish you and the creators well, hopefully they take a look at some of the mods like Primitive Survival and they try to realign the game towards the audience 'I believe' they should be going after, and losing the weird senseless lack of logic when it comes to scaling enemies to the player. (Worse is I hear even if you get full armor down the road you'll just die in a few hits anyways, so why bother)
  2. NGL I've seen you on Steam doing the exact same kind of pocket moderating and it's fairly annoying trying to share one's experience when someone else is constantly crowing in the background how great theirs' is with multiple comments. It's a weird form of one-up-manship that I'm not fond of, especially when the thread itself is simply about what people are disappointed with, with the current generator, in an Early-access game, where the developers ask for this kind of feedback. Being annoyed isn't being upset as well, not everyone is a "u mad?" troll. We're real people with real money and real opinions. Having said that I was able to find the setting after fiddling around with the "uplift" option in the customize world and I found that 10-20% seems so much better than the default 40%, though I found 0% to be very flat with unnatural formations.
  3. I'm not sure if you're just trying to discourage anyone pointing out what they dislike about the terrain generator but I don't play on multiplayer and from the sounds of it you were on some kind of map that I assume was modified in some way. What would be helpful though is if you or others would instead try to help the newer players navigate how to 'enable' such great sounding features in a map rather than understating our experience. Attached is another screenshot, I've tried again today to create a world that seems plausible and I've been unable to. It feels extremely game-breaking when considering the stamina usage constantly having to jump all the time. Worse is the constant hits to HP because everywhere is a falling death trap
  4. It feels like so much of the game's balance is completely tilted towards the end of the game rather than the beginning. I don't think it's an intimidating factor it's more-so just sinking a lot of time into systems that aren't very intuitive and require knowledge of the systems before you can "smooth it". To put it bluntly; it's not fun World generation and finding food while trying to understand why there are wolves and bears in the meadows and you have no weapons is just a big mess
  5. I tried the "801461586" seed but all I got was more of the same terrain generation. I have everything set to default. I come from a mountainous region in the north of America and I've never seen terrain like this. It's just 'normal' and then suddenly a wall of blocks, I'm finding myself walled into corners in a lot of directions as well due to the sheer verticality all over.
  6. I'm not a big fan of it so far. It almost makes me wish we had an toggle-able auto-climb feature similar to minecraft because I play with a controller and I'm just hopping up and down hills no matter which direction I go. The floating islands thing is cool if it's intentional. It's taken me awhile to learn what I'm doing and have fun with it but I'm really enjoying the game otherwise and there are certainly a lot more pretty vistas than in previous versions.
  7. I don't post often or really at all. But I think this is a bad idea. I think the Steam community is full of people wanting to change games to make them all like each other. I think this game could use more marketing, yes, but I don't agree that putting it onto Steam is a good one. I'd rather see it on ~GOG~ or something fitter for a company like this that isn't going to get the short end of the stick
  8. If the solution is to change every setting in the game to make it playable; I'm not sure that's much of one. And there doesn't seem to be a "increase berry bushel" option. It's very jarring coming from every other survival game under the sun to this one where RNG seems to be the biggest source of frustration or just blatantly creates an impassable wall where I simply cannot find enough gatherables before succumbing to starvation and death, or they're spread so far all I'm doing is just running around looking for food because I'm always hungry. You may not be new; but this is the new player experience. I think that's worth talking about rather than sweeping under the rug?
  9. I feel like as a new player this game could use a lot in the area of not pushing people away from it. Spending all day playing the game and just re-creating worlds trying to find enough berries to make it past day 2's starvation and death is just...not fun. And then you throw in being insta-shotted by everything that is around you as soon as you spawn. I want to like the game so bad because it looks so cool but damn does it do everything to turn me away, especially needing to be on the wiki the entire time: or guides or tutorials. The game should be intuitive enough that people can pick it up and play, even if it is hard/tedious or requires trial and error/learning as they play from the player.
